Ace at 2 months!

By on September 22, 2011

I am such a slacker! I haven’t made a 2 month post yet.

Adonis weighed 10lbs 9.5ozs and was 22 inches at his 2 month appointment.
He got his vaccines which were awful. His legs hurt him so badly that night that he was hysterically screaming. We gave him some tylenol which didn’t seem to work but I guess it’s because he spit most of it out so finally a couple hours later we gave him some more and he finally passed out. It was the saddest thing watching him in so much pain. I almost started crying. The next day he still needed some tylenol but by later in the day he was better.

Right now Ace smiles although still not all the time which bums me out a bit. He coos and does a lot of ahhs. He is obsessed with my Mom, he stares at her like no one else. He loves his mobiles, he has one over his changing table which is his favorite and one over his crib. He loves being nursed in the morning and sleeping in the Baby K’tan. He has gotten a lot less fussy since we changed his formula to Gerber Gentle. I still pump and nurse him so he gets a combo of formula and breastmilk through out the day.

Oh and if anyone is a Hell’s Kitchen fan you might have seen my friend Paul win!!! I am so happy for him. He dated my bestfriend for awhile and so he and I became pretty good friends and we also worked together after they broke up. He is hilarious and a total ass at times but to know Paul is to love him. He is an awesome guy. He is so deserving of this. He is an exceptional Chef and works his ass off. Congrats Pauly!!!

This weekend we are heading up to Daytona to see one of my bestfriends and her family. I am so excited. Then on Friday night we are driving to Orlando and going to Disney on Saturday!!! I can not wait to go with Ace and my friends daughters. We are all super close so it will be awesome to just hang out and see the kids together. Her girls are so incredibly sweet and smart and I just love being around them.

9/11/01-9/11/11

By on September 11, 2011

It has been 10 years since the September 11 attacks and I think anyone who was old enough to really understand the tragedy of the events remembers where they were and what they were doing that day when they heard about the attacks.
I remember getting woken up by my best friend, Katie, telling me to turn the news on. I put it on and just saw a building that looked like it was on fire, I thought no big deal, people were probably evacuated and safe, then she explained what happened, I was still half asleep and shocked. I remember getting out of bed, running downstairs to see my Mom watching the news and saying it was serious and how sad it was. I got in my car and drove to my Dad’s work and him and my Grandpa and a few other people were in his office watching this tiny TV and we saw the second plane hit. I just remember covering my mouth in shock and my Grandpa tearing up. I asked if it was an accident, still not understanding how this could be happening and he said No, this was probably a terrorist attack. Being 17 I hadn’t seen anything like this at the time and you never think you will in your life time but when you do it is incredible and serious. I got a call from my cousin asking me to pick her children up from school early and all I heard on the radio that day was I’m Proud to be an American and them talking about what was going on.  My best friend Maggie came over and we just watched the news in the dark all day and night. Thinking back now I can’t believe we just sat there and watched the planes crash over and over again from different camera views and just crying all day.
I remember after that day how kind people were to anyone and everyone. Almost every car on the road had a flag hanging from it and the fire fighters standing on the streets collecting money in boots for the victims. The American pride continued for a long time and it’s funny to think now no one has those flags on their windows.
I also remember the talk of war and freaking out about it. It scared me so much. Ten years later those of us here are still safe thanks to the many soldiers who fight for us and I am so grateful. I am grateful for the increase in security at the airports as I have flown so much since then. I hope my son never has to experience this kind of event in his lifetime.
Today we aren’t doing much but hanging around the house but we did want to dress up Adonis in tribute of that day!

8 weeks!

By on

Adonis is 8 weeks old today! We had taken him in the pediatrician yesterday to make sure he was ok because he seems to have a sensitive tummy. Doctor said he seems fine but to try a few things and it seems like he is already better today without trying anything, isn’t that the way things always work out?
He was weighed yesterday and he is 9lbs 13ozs. Not sure on height but we go Friday for his 2 month check up and I will update all his stats. I need to start seeing what his head measurements are.
Today I started working on getting him on a schedule. Eating 4ozs every 3 hours and trying to get him to bed by 10:30. So far the schedule during the day worked but bedtime has been hard. I am hoping by next week we will have him going down and not needing us to completely rock him to sleep.
Today I also tried out one of his Gdiapers. I am bummed that the size small already seems snug on him. It says it goes to 13lbs but I doubt it will last. He looked super cute in it though. It was also the start of college football so we dressed him up in his Michigan onsie and cap since Branden is a huge fan. I need to get that boy some South Florida stuff!
Tomorrow is the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 so hopefully everyone is safe and remembering those lost!
I took a bunch of pictures today too!

7 weeks

By on September 3, 2011

My amazing baby boy is now 7 weeks old. He is so aware now, he will just stare at people and look at things and smile. His smiles are few and far between but he is getting it more and more.
Today my sister was giving him kisses and he smiled at her, she was so excited. She is so obsessed with Adonis, it is the sweetest thing.
We also had a little “sprinkle” for my brother and his wife. Their baby is due the first week of October but he really could come anytime since she has had so much preterm labor. This will be their fourth and final baby so it will be nice that he is close in age to Adonis.
Not to much else has been going on. I might be getting a tutoring job 4 days a week for 2 hours so that will be a nice little income for extras. I am dying to go shopping but don’t want to really spend money since Bran is the only one working and we have a lot of trips coming up. We are going to Orlando the 24th so that will be exciting! I also get to see one of my bestfriends and her family. I miss them so much so I can not wait.
I am going to but I will update with a picture soon.
