Halloween Fun!

By on October 30, 2011

My parents had a little family Halloween party yesterday. It was super cute and fun. We had lots of Halloween treats and a pumpkin carving contest. We dressed Mr. Man in his bumblebee costume and he looked super adorable. My brother’s kids also came and they dressed up and my newest nephew was a pumpkin. We got a lot of cute pictures too. Ace is 15 weeks old as well and he is just getting to be more and more fun each day. Today he was grabbing his new froggy toy and it was just so cute watching him try to grab it and pull it to his mouth. Soon enough he will really be playing with his toys. I just love that little guy so much!

How cute are the ghost ones? My Mom is so cute!

Weekend Update!

By on October 25, 2011

We had a great weekend! Friday Branden and I went to an Oktoberfest with some friends and they had different beer venders there giving out samples. I rarely drink so I had a buzz going on, then we went and had food from the food trucks, I love those! My bestfriend Maggie and I split nachos, which were awesome. Bran and my sister had food from a hot dog one and they seemed to like it. My parents watched Squish, which was awesome of them. I don’t know what I would do without their help. I would never go anywhere.

Saturday I met up with some girls from my Mommy Meet Up group. There was five of us and Adonis was the youngest baby like usual. He slept through most of it after he had his bottle but was really good the times he was awake.

Sunday I went to my uncle’s house and had dinner with my parents, sister and cousins. Adonis was of course the center of attention and so cute. I am super close with my cousins so I just love seeing them with him. We also got back our pictures from our photo session last week. We got some really great shots. That’s about it for our weekend!

New Obsession!

By on October 18, 2011

I have a new obsession and it’s name is Pinterest! I am trying to be better at organizing, cooking and home projects and this is the perfect site to help with it.
So far I have gotten a lot of recipes and home ideas. I have this nightstand from my Grandma’s house after she passed and I do not want to mess it up so I found a few ideas on what I can do with it to make it look refreshed. I also want to get something to put in our kitchen for extra storage. I am thinking I need some kind of long dresser/shelf thing. I want to do a vintage, shabby chic look in there since our kitchen is very old fashion looking and so I am still on the hunt but I found this really cool mirror with three sections. The one in the middle is a circle and the two sides are rectangles. So far we have primed it and will paint it a teal color and then glaze it. I am then going to paint the glass with chalkboard paint so I can put a to-do list, menu and shopping list on each section.
I will post pics once I upload them. I am hoping to finish the mirror on Wednesday since Branden has off and he can help me with it and hopefully we can find a piece for the kitchen, we tried Salvation Army but they had a power outage from the storm and Ace was cranky so we are going to try another day.
Here is my Pinterest so you can see some of my recipes and home ideas!

The Littlest Pumpkin!

By on October 17, 2011
First Pumpkin Patch visit!

October has been quite the busy month for Mr. Ace. He had his first beach visit, pumpkin patch visit and turned 3 months old!
My big beautiful boy is 3 months old today and I just fall more in love with him everyday. He is just so sweet and silly. He smiles and laughs and is so happy now. He used to be so cranky due to his tummy issues but now he really is such a joy.
Last night he had his first pumpkin patch visit. It was nice to go at night because it was cool out and there wasn’t really anyone else there. My bestfriend and her boyfriend met up with us and we took some pictures and got a few baby pumpkins.
Today we had his 3 month photos taken as well as a few family ones and ones of him in his bumblebee costume. He looked so incredibly cute. The photographer has the photos still but we got a few snapshots from our phones. I can not wait to get the CD with all his pictures.

Ace | life

13 weeks old!

By on October 15, 2011

Today my precious prince is 13 weeks old. He is so amazing.
In a bit we are going to go to a pumpkin patch to take some pics and get a pumpkin and see some friends. Then tomorrow we are taking his 3 month photos at another pumpkin patch. I can not wait. We have a few outfits so I hope we get some good pictures. We are also going to take some family ones for our Christmas card.
Last night we took Squish to the beach for the first time. It took us forever to get down there and find somewhere to park. We spent more time then at the beach. We got some cute pictures though.

Mini Update on Ace, Cloth Diapers and life!

By on October 13, 2011
I have been so busy it has been hard to find time to update my blog. I work part-time tutoring 3 kids, have class and of course Ace takes up the majority of my time.
I also have made a Mommy group on facebook for friends I have that have children who I haven’t seen in years and their friends. We have had it for almost 2 weeks and have had 3 meet ups. It is great. I love meeting up with other Mommies.

Ace has really started to show his personality lately. He really started yesterday and this morning with me. He smiles and laughs and coos and gurgles. I love it. He was doing some of those things before but he didn’t do it at people as much as he did at his toys. Now he is like hey there! I just love it.
He also will be 3 months old on the 16th! I can’t believe how much he has changed in just a few short months. He is so amazing. I never understood until I had him the fascination Mom’s had for their babies till I had him and he really started to do new things. I also didn’t understand the whole “My baby is perfect” thing till him. They are just so pure, sweet and well, perfect. You never want them to be corrupted or have them see anything horrible. I want him to live in a Disney World state of mind for a long time, let him enjoy his childhood because once you are exposed to so many things that you don’t need to be exposed to as a child you start to lose that pureness. We all have to grow up but I want him to enjoy being a child and carefree.
I weighed the chunk yesterday and he was 12lb 8ozs! He doubled his birth weight exactly. He has the cutest little round face. We are pretty much using cloth diapers full-time now. I prefer the Gdiapers and Flips to Pocket Diapers. Pockets are super bulky but somewhat easier to clean when there is poop in the diaper since you just dunk the middle in the toilet, swirl, flush then spray, the other ones aren’t bad but the prefolds are probably the hardest to clean that way.
I guess that is my big update. I will try to do a 3 month post on the 16th!

I wanted to do an update on my breastfeeding experience with my son. I wish I had known more before going into it but here we are and I feel we are coming to the end of this journey. I love breastfeeding but my son is now accustomed to the bottle and gets annoyed if he wants milk now!

He will latch on and hang out there sometimes but not like before. I wish I had been more comfortable with breastfeeding and able to do it outside of my bedroom, I finally started getting comfortable when he started to get bored with it. I still pump and get one bottle at least a day to him but it takes a few pumping sessions so I am not sure how much more I can handle. Its emotionally draining. I feel somewhat like a failure. I know with the next baby things will be different. I will know what to expect and how to handle it differently, what to be prepared with and what is worth doing and what isn’t.
Here are some tips for anyone out there who wants to breastfeed.

  • Know that it takes a good 6 weeks for your baby to get good at breastfeeding in a shorter time.

-Ace latched on and stayed on for hours and would have stayed on all day if I let him, this is important for establishing a supply, I thought I just wasn’t creating enough.

  • Try not to supplement but if need be do not give them a bottle, try to feed them with a spoon or an SNS system or even a Breastflow bottle (they have to work to get the milk like they do at the breast).
  • Do not be afraid to supplement if need be, just make sure to really try to stick with the breast and not always go to the bottle, if you do supplement pump everytime you do so.
  • Get a nursing cover and use it at home so you are comfortable using it in public, I have yet to use mine and had I gotten comfortable with it I probably would have been better with breastfeeding anywhere.
  • Have a great support group even if it is an online group, this is what helped me through so many hard times where I wanted to quit.
  • Do not be afraid to cry and vent to your mom, sister, friend or whoever who has been through it, their sympathy, advice and jokes will help you.
  •  Know that if you can’t do it, it’s ok. I was afraid to say I didn’t give him breast milk or he was a full on formula baby before I had him, then my friend who is a hardcore breastfeeding advocate, Le Leche League leader told me that in just 1 tablespoon of breast milk there is so much I am giving him and that I tried my best and to be proud of it. So be proud of just try because it is a lot more taxing then you can ever imagine.
