Looking for Local Bloggers!

By on September 27, 2012
{via}

I might be a complete cheese ball when I say I really enjoy blogging. I enjoy it because I can look back on what I went through to get pregnant, my pregnancy and my son’s life. It has been an amazing experience. I have met other bloggers who have inspired me and I have also been able to help newer bloggers.
I think there is so much we can do for one another in the blogging community from helping get your blog out there to giving tips on what would make your blog easier to navigate. I don’t think one person has all the answers and even the newest blogger can offer some very useful advice.
What I am thinking of doing is setting up a South Florida Bloggers Group. We could talk about our ideas or just bond over our love of writing.
Right now I do have a Facebook group called Lady Bloggers if anyone is interested in joining that one. This is for anyone, not just local bloggers. This might be a great place for you to find someone in your area you can meet up with if you’d like or just get more insight from a different crowd.
If you are in the South Florida area and would like to join my new Facebook group  Florida Bloggers then come on over! I would love to have monthly meet ups if possible but if not even just talking to those who are from the area would be nice.

Rest in Peace Baby Kate

By on
Kate with her sister Haley

First I want to say that I am so saddened to write this post.
I don’t know if any of you recall a post I made last year about Baby Kate. This baby was a friend of a friend’s daughter. I know some people in Michigan since that is where Branden is from and wanted to post about her disappearance. Her father had taken her and a few hours later he showed up at his parents house and he didn’t have the baby. There was searches going on to try to find this little girl but there was no luck. Sean, the father, was arrested for kidnapping since his DNA test hadn’t come back yet to prove he was her father. He had had her clothes in his pocket, making the whole thing even more suspicious. Since then there has been no sign of this precious child and her father had refused to say where she was but did say she was fine. Ariel, her mother, actually filed to marry this “man”. I was so disgusted when I heard this. I couldn’t believe a mother would actually mary a man who took her child from her and wouldn’t reveal her whereabouts.
Fast forward to July 16, 2012, a year and 15 days later and Sean confesses to accidentally killing Baby Kate in a letter sent to Ariel. The letter was not even turned in by Ariel but by someone else! This “woman”, if you can call her that makes me sick. As you can tell she is no longer a friend of my friend due to many things that has happened in the past year, stemming from Kate missing and other issues. I had my thoughts on this girl prior to this letter and her wanting to marry him but kept my mouth shut for my friends sake. Now I am so horrified that a mother could marry the person who killed her baby.
I also am saddened for Kate’s sister Haley. This poor girl is going to have to grow up with two dysfunctional parents and she also deserves so much more.
Rest In Peace Sweet Innocent Little Kate
If anyone has any interest in learning more details then I am willing to share you can read the letter here. I will say I do not recommend reading it because it is detailed and very heart wrenching.

Posy Lane Review!

By on

I have to show off this amazing seersucker tote bag I got from Posy Lane

I wanted to have it embroidered with our last name so that way Ace, myself and even Branden can use it. I love this bag because it is a nice large tote and has very comfortable straps. I can use it for my lap top, as an alternative to a diaper bag and even for a day at the beach. It is so versatile which is great for our family. I also thought it would make a great bag for Ace when he goes into the nursery at church because it has his last name on it. If you like this bag then get ready to do a happy dance because Posy Lane is offer my readers $10 off a $30 purchase! That is an awesome deal if you ask me. Just use code perfectmom.

This past weekend I used this bag a lot. We first headed to IKEA where I stashed Ace’s diapers, wipes, my wallet, phone and a few toys and snacks. All of it fit with a ton of room to spare.
We went to church Saturday night and the bag went into the toddler room with Ace and it was perfect because it had his last name on it and everything he would need while we were in the sanctuary.
I also used it while out to lunch on Sunday with my Mom and we had left overs so I was even able to stash the box in my bag when we went into the store real quick after. Talk about an awesome bag!
Another great thing about this bag is it has double layers on the inside. The outside of the bag and the inside are slightly separate so when one of Ace’s sippy cups leaked it didn’t go through to the outside of the bag and ruin it. I was upset for  a quick minute because the tote was new but luckily the liquid didn’t even touch the outer layer.
Posy Lane has other cute items for kids and family members. If your child goes to daycare they have children nap mats, how cool is that?
Check out their personalized tote bags for more options if blue isn’t your color.

Croup, Pink Eye & an Ear Infection, Oh my!

By on
Looking fine on Saturday before getting sick, went to church after this, maybe he got it from the nursery?

Today has been a day of Mommy stress. Let me start from the beginning though.
Yesterday I spent the day with my Mom and noticed Ace had some green goop coming from his eye. I made an appointment for him to be seen a the doctors that day (so thankful for weekend office hours). They were able to take him in the late afternoon so he had a short nap and we headed over. The doctor there gave him a quick check, confirmed it was pink eye and sent us on our way. I had mentioned him having a bit of a cough and runny nose and he said he basically had an all over cold. I went over to my brother’s cousin Jen’s house to get some liquid gold for his eye and let the kids play (we watched them to make sure they didn’t touch each others faces and wiped his hands before they played, he hadn’t been touching his eye). Ace got cranky after awhile and kept signing milk and we headed home. He was in a good mood when Branden got home and it seemed like all was fine. Then as the night went on his cough got worse. Branden got him Little Colds and we put him to bed. After about 2 hours he was up crying and miserable. We let him stay up for a bit then put him back down and he was up again not long after we headed to bed. This continued all night. I basically got no sleep.
In the morning we got an early appointment and headed back to the doctors since he was making a wheezing sound and his eye was now swollen.

Sunday night, check out that yucky eye and nose  but still smiling

The doctor was shocked to see that his eye was swollen and since his nose was running she checked his ears and he had an ear infection as well as croup and pink eye. She said that since he was smiling and dancing that she wasn’t going to send him to the hospital but she wanted him to get a steroid drink and come back in the afternoon to check his chest again and if it wasn’t better (which she kind of seemed like she didn’t think it would be since he was so bad) then he would have to go to the hospital.

fell asleep in our bed holding his bottle of water, poor thing was drinking water non-stop

We headed home and both passed out for hours. Ace slept from 11 to 3 and I slept till 2. Then I had to wake him up to go back to the doctors and his eye was no longer swollen and he wasn’t wheezing when he breathed. He still have a cough but nothing like before. The nurse we had before was shocked when she saw him and when the doctor came in she said she hasn’t seen someone have that quick of a recovery in a long time. No hospital visit for him!
I am just praying he is able to sleep and not wake up miserable.

Emily Giffin’s Where We Belong

By on September 24, 2012

Since becoming a Mom it has been so hard to find time to sit down and finish a book. I love reading and used to be able to finish a book in 2 or 3 days. Since having Ace I haven’t finished a single book. I saw that Emily Giffin was releasing a new book called “Where We Belong” and I had to read it. I am an Emily Giffin nut! I love her books. My best friend and I always get them and read them and then talk about them like we know the characters. We are weirdos like that. I remember reading “Heart of the Matter” and calling her or texting her saying I couldn’t believe what Valerie had done!
I recently finished “Where we Belong” and have to say this is one of my favorite books by Emily Giffin. Her writing is incredible and I love that the story is told from two different people.
Now recently Emily Giffin announced this book would be turned into a movie so of course I had to put faces to the characters.
Marian: Rachel McAdams or Kristen Bell

Kirby: Lucy Hale or Emma Roberts

Conrad: Ryan Reynolds

Peter: George Clooney

Charlotte: Megan Park (Secret Life of the American Teen)

Belinda: Ariana Grande

I didn’t review this book because anyone asked me to but because I really love Emily Giffin’s books. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an easy read.

Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway!

By on September 23, 2012

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

BLG_Logo_Horizontal.jpg (3 documents, 3 total pages)

Ever find the perfect gift for the perfect person? You know this is a hot item but don’t have the immediate means to buy it right then and there. What do you do? Put it on layaway of course! Then you look around, walk to the back of the store, walk to the front of the store and there is no sign of a layaway department. How is this even possible? You think, okay if I come back in two weeks, I will have the money to buy the item and it will be the best gift ever. Then two weeks later the item is sold out, everywhere.

Sound familiar? Yeah, this actually happened to me. It was Christmas time and I knew my husband had to have a specific digital camera. I, of course, wanted to get him this gift but since bills were due and I didn’t want him to know I was buying a big item for him from our bank account so I knew layaway was the best option. Come to find out the store didn’t offer this amazing service. Had I gone to Kmart to purchase the camera I would have been able to put the item on layaway right then and there. Talk about a convenient option for their customers. As a mother now buying for a little boy you bet I will be buying his Christmas gifts from Kmart and using their hand layaway program.

Many other retailers try to offer similar layaway options but they don’t quite match up to Kmart’s unique layaway program that also allows for a person to pay for their items in an 8 to 12 week time span if you sign up today through November 17th for free layaway. I compared this layaway program to Best Buys and their service fee is 5% and you must put 25% down but the minimum purchase has to be at least $250 so in this case they far exceed Kmart’s low layaway fees and down payment.

If you want to start your Holiday shopping then now is the time! Don’t worry about not having enough money to spend in one shopping trip. Go to Kmart and put your holiday gifts on layaway before they sell out!

Below is a chart that will help you see what a great option Kmart’s laway really is.

If you go now you can also win your items on your layaway list  in Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway! I know I will be crossing my fingers for a chance to win! What can be better then a great layaway program? Winning free gifts from their giveaway, of course!
