Guest Post: Business Ideas for Moms

By on February 28, 2013

When a baby becomes older than 12 months, a stay-at-home mom gets a bit of spare time to occupy with a part-time job. Of course, it is not enough for something serious and ambitious, but that will do for doing something at home. For example, when your child is asleep you can translate, write, edit, do web design and programming, bookkeeping, develop architectural projects, knit, sew and so on. It all depends on your skills and hobbies.
Someone more suitable option to prepare meals for take-out, small, close lying firms. You can still engage in the manufacture of colored edible ice for cafes, bars and restaurants. All that you need is to buy a form, fill it with water, add fruit/vegetable juice and freeze. Or you can start baking. Homemade products can be delivered a walk with the baby.
If a young mother has a good taste, it can offer services in the design of photo albums. You need a good camera to take high-quality pictures and if you don’t have it your option will be to buy a professional camera using one of short-term online loans offered on many websites. You can negotiate with relatives, shoot and make the album a memorable event as the meeting of the mother and child hospital. Some parents also like to arrange photo albums gradual development of the baby up to a year. To do this once a month, you can come in and give little photo shoot crumbs.
The simplest and most common way to earn money is a walk with the kids. When going with a child in the street, grab a neighbor kid for a small fee. Those who have suitable living conditions can arrange a home kindergarten for three or four children.

Greenie Tots!

By on

My son is not a big meat eater. We rarely feed him meals that include meat and when we do have meat he isn’t always a big fan. I love finding vegetarian meals for him that he will love. Recently I was contacted by Greenie Tots to try out some of their meatless meals. The best part is they are soy free, contain no hormones, pesticides or high fructose corn syrup!
I picked the quesadilla ones because Ace is a huge fan of eating quesadillas when we go out. One was Chik’n, Cheese & Spinach Quesadillas with mixed veggies and Cheeseburger quesadillas with sweet potato fries. The first night we got them we tried the Chik’n ones and those were a huge hit with Ace. I even had a bite and really liked them. They filled him up which is hard to do because that boy loves to eat. He surprisingly ate all the veggies too.
With the cheeseburger ones he wasn’t as big of a fan but I think that was because he wasn’t as hungry. He decided to throw a lot of it on the floor but when he did try to eat his food he ate them and seemed to like it. He also liked dipping the sweet potato  fries in ketchup that came with it.

YUM!

Overall I would say these are a great option for vegetarian and non-vegetarian families. They are fast and easy for nights when you are on the run and healthy as well!

Daytona Weekend Recap

By on February 25, 2013

This past weekend I got to spend time with one of my besties, Kat, and her family. Our husbands went to the Daytona 500 and we had some girl time on Saturday, getting our nails done and then some kid time as well. Overall it was a great weekend. A little stressful with a toddler out of his element but overall I always enjoy being with them.

We got to their place late Friday night, Kat and I decided we needed to get working on a new project we are doing together and ended up staying up way too late. The next day we got up and took the kids to Chick-fil-a for breakfast and so they could play and get their energy out. The kids had so much fun together, it is always cute to see her daughters playing with Ace and taking on the big cousin role with him. Then we headed home and all got ready. We dropped the guys off at the race then Kat and I got pedis and had lunch. It was so nice it just being the two of us like old times.

After that we headed home and played outside with the kids. Ace loved being able to play on all the girls big kid stuff.

After that we went and got the guys and headed home to get ready for dinner out for Jaime’s birthday. We went to La Fiesta, which was so good! Again, nice to have a night out just the adults. These moments are so rare for us.

The next day the guys headed back to the races and we spent the day with the kids just hanging out, going out to lunch and heading to the park. They have the coolest park ever near them. It is this huge ship playground and Ace just loved it. He had so much fun going down the slides and running around. They also had a walking trail which was great because he could just run and we didn’t have to worry about him going off track.

After that Kat picked the guys up from the race and I hung with the kids. Then we all went outside and played tag and enjoyed our last moments together for the weekend. I always am sad to say goodbye to them. I have wanted to live close to them but for now I know it would be too difficult on us to move up there.

Our picture we had to have

One of our attempts, Ace pulling hair

Shoes and feet were in faces at different times

I am trying to work on a video from the weekend so if anyone has any tips on how to edit live footage with music I would love some ideas!

Daytona & a Sneak Peak!

By on February 22, 2013
One year ago!

I am so excited, tonight we are heading north to Daytona to see one of my besties! I just got to see her the other weekend but since we live about 4 hours away it is always so exciting when we get to spend the weekend together with our families. I am hoping we can get a picture like the one above again this year, that one was taken a year ago so I would love to be able to get the same pose from the kids. We have tried to get it before but lets just say with Ace on the run and the girls trying to help us get him to hold still it was a hot mess.
Our husbands will be going to the Daytona 500 while we do girlie things and hang with the kids. We will also be celebrating her husband’s birthday Saturday night, Happy Birthday Jaime!

I know a lot of you have been following my shop Au Natural Baby Boutique on Facebook and saw the new dresses that I will be getting in! I am so excited to start offering women’s clothing now. Since my orders are pending, which means they just make sure what I ordered is in stock and then they will send it, I can not take preorders at the moment. I know one of the dresses was on the iffy side if it was still in since I had it in my cart for awhile but I believe the rest are a sure thing so hang tight and when I get the confirmation that my order is on the way I will gladly take preorders for all my lovely fans out there!

If you haven’t checked out my Facebook pages go do it now! I update them often and you can communicate with me a lot easier on there than on here or on email.
For those of you who are wondering about the dresses here is a sneak peak!

Summer Style Must Haves: Day to Night

By on February 21, 2013

With spring and summer right around the corner and the fact that Florida is already super hot I decided to check out Pinterest and see what was out there. We all know the chevron print is totally in and I found the cutest dress! This Navy Chevron Print Belted Dress is to die for! I love this for dinner out with friends or a date night. It also is the perfect dress for lunch with your girlfriends because it is light and airy which means you won’t feel over dressed.

I also wanted a pair of Boyfriend Jeans for running around running errands. It is a good compromise between shorts and regular jeans, don’t you think? You can still manage to look put together and casual all at the same time. When it comes to going out at night just throw on a pair of simple black heels and a flowy top and you are good to go!

For a dressier look I love these Skinny Mini Skimmer Khakis, they are easy to wear and look stylish. During the day you can pair it with a simple white t-shirt and a pair of flats and dress it up at night with heels, some statement jewelry and even a khaki blazer.

I am a huge fan of loose tops in the spring and summer. It just adds to the laid back style of summer. This Chiffon Pullover  in white is the perfect top to go with a pair of cut off shorts during the day or tucked into a body con skirt at night. It is a top you will end up wearing year round, guaranteed.

Au Natural Baby model, Maggie with Ace, she’s rocking the gold jewelry!

So what is the 5th item to add to your summer wardrobe? Jewelry of course! Jewelry can make any outfit go from day to night in an instant. Take a couple of bangles and throw them on for a fun daytime look, add a statement necklace or ring to the look for night. Want to draw attention to your face? Add a pair of statement earrings. Gold is very in right now so don’t be afraid of it.

BabyBjörn Booster Chair!

By on February 19, 2013

Side and Front View

As a Mom of a toddler I am realizing more and more that my son is no longer a little baby and at times it makes me a bit sad but overall I love watching him become the amazing little person that he is. With that being said I love products that are functional and made specifically for toddlers. When going from having a baby with a ton of stuff all around the house (i.e. swing, bouncer, play mat, ect.) I was excited to start streamlining Ace’s things that he needed on a daily basis. One of the main items we had to keep around was his Space Saver seat. I love this seat because it attaches to a regular chair and can be used from babyhood to kid hood <–is that even a word? The only “issue” I had with this product was the lack of mobility it had. It was big and clunky as well. Less clunky than a regular high chair but still clunky. I then got this awesome BabyBjörn Booster Chair.
Booster Chair
First of all this seat is the perfect height for sitting at a table so Ace can sit with us at the dinner table and not at his other seat which is a bit too high for the table. With that chair he still has to use his chair. It also is great for when he does arts and crafts. When we would do them in his Space Saver seat it made it difficult because the tray is small and paper would always stick off the edge causing coloring books to fall to the floor easily. At the kitchen table he has a lot more space. He also was so excited to be sitting at the table like a big boy.
Booster Chair
The best feature has got to be how small it is, making it easy to take with us to friend’s houses where we are having dinner or our place in the Keys. It straps to a chair and you are good to go.

Overall this has got to be one of my favorite items for my little toddler.

Pros: Small, Perfect heigh for a kitchen table, Attaches to a chair, Portable. Easy to clean. Neutral color.
Cons: No Safety belt around child’s waist.

The only con I could find is there isn’t a safety belt that goes around the child’s waist but in reality at this age Ace doesn’t need one. I do think some parents might not like this so I listed it.

Do you want to win your very own BabyBjörn Booster Chair?! Here is your chance!

Sideboard Table Love!

By on February 18, 2013

Has there ever been a piece of furniture you saw and just had.to.have? You just have to have it like yesterday. Well, that was how I felt about this incredible sideboard table. I have been browsing Pinterest looking for home decor ideas and stumbled across this sideboard table. I fell in love! I was debating on getting it because of the high shipping cost but thankfully because of the holiday weekend I got it with FREE shipping. Heck yeah! Talk about making my night. I had planned on waiting to buy it when we moved so we wouldn’t have one more piece of furniture to move but I could not pass up the free shipping. Even with the shipping it was worth the price to me.

Has there ever been that one piece of furniture you had your heart set on and just had to have?

Ace | life | Monthly Updates

19 Months Old

By on February 17, 2013

My little man, you are 19 months old. This past month has had many ups and downs for you. You got some more teeth, which were a killer for you. This has been the first time you have ever truly had issues with teething. You were a hot mess and even got an ear infection to go along with it making you even more miserable. There was a time or two Mommy even cried over how to handle your pain. I hate seeing you so distressed.
You also are having major separation anxiety. I know this has to do with daycare and the fact that Mommy went out of town for a weekend but it breaks my heart to watch you cry when we leave you. You always stop crying fairly quickly but it still stinks.

On to the positives…
You are so so funny. I mean there are no words for how funny you are. Everyone always comments on it and I must say I am pretty proud of the fact that you are so silly, happy and laid back (when you aren’t getting those awful molars). You definitely take after the Boyd side with your goofball attitude. You are a lot like your cousin Kayla when she was little and I love it because she is my mini-me and you are hers.

You also are really starting to copy things we say. The other day in the store you dropped my phone and it broke and I said “That’s ok” and you copied it, I nearly died from how cute you said it. You also are remembering what things are more and more. We went to Chick-Fil-A for family night and they had the cow walking around and you pointed and yelled “COW!”
You are obsessed with your Grandpa’s Ipod and when you want to listen to the music you say “dance” and hold your one hand in the air and do a little tiptoe dance with your feet. We will do “dance parties” before bed and you just crack up.

At school they call you their surfer dude because of your teething necklace and mohawk. Everyone thinks you are so cute and enjoys you.

You have started calling your blankets “kiki” and are starting to really get attached to having a blanket with you. You went through this once before so I am wondering if it will stick this time. You also do this with your sippy, if you are upset you want to hold it.

You want to eat all.the.time.

You shreek and scream a lot now. People always laugh when you do it so unfortunately you think you are super funny.

You are obsessed with your cousins. You think they are hilarious.

Newest sign: cracker
Words: hard to keep track of these but here are a few… blankie “kiki”, that’s ok, don’t touch, baby Lily, “hey, girl, hey”, sparkle, you’re welcome

Height: 33 inches
Weight 26 lbs

It’s a Love Story: Part 1, The Meeting

By on February 14, 2013

With every couple there is a “love story” so to speak. You meet, you fall in love and the rest is history. Branden and I are no different. We met, fell in love, got engaged, got pregnant (oops), had a miscarriage, got married, TTC for over a year and finally had our beautiful son. We have been through a lot in the past 5 years together and yet we have made it through many trials and triumphs stronger than ever. Here is the first part of our love story.

 photo 13_527418402355_5185_n_zps45a8f2b1.jpg
Bran’s MySpace profile pic back then.

Branden and I met in a funny way. My best friend Maggie and I were totally freaking out about getting new roommates when our friends were moving out when we were in college. We lived in an apartment complex that matched roommates and since we were in a town we were still fairly new too we didn’t know any friends we could ask to move in with us so the apartment complex was able to match us with roommates they thought were a perfect fit. I decided to try to hunt down two cool girls to take the place of our roommates that we totally loved. I looked on MySpace Classifieds and saw an ad for someone looking for a place with 2 bedrooms & 2 bath open. That fit us! I then discovered it was two guys and gave the guy some tips on apartment places in the area that might work for them but that we didn’t want guy roommates. The guy I talked to was Branden and I thought he was really cute. He apparently thought the same and friend requested me on MySpace. I accepted but that was about it. We didn’t really talk much and didn’t for a few months.

Fast forward to that summer when I had planned to go home for the summer and my best friend got stuck with the worst roommates ever! These girls were not just messy but they were slobs. They would leave food all over the house, our apartment had flies and she called me upset on a daily basis. I knew if I were in that situation I would not want to be alone so I told her to give me a week or two and I would come back up there.

In the time I was home Branden and I started randomly chatting on AIM (ha, remember that?) and he was moving near USF where I was living and so we talked about the campus and any other random thing. One night Branden said why don’t we just talk on the phone? I was a bit nervous about this since it was weird for me to talk to someone offline who I didn’t know. He ended up calling me and that night we talked for 3 hours. The funniest thing we both remember talking about is that show Dinausars.

After that Branden would call me when he would get off work and we would talk on his drive home and he asked to meet me. I was a bit leery but told him I would be in town for a couple of days on Father’s Day night. He was also going to be in Tampa signing his lease for his new apartment so he would come meet me before he had work (he was working an overnight shift at a hotel). It was going to be a quick meet up but the only time we both could do it while I was in town.

Maggie and I sat in my room getting ready and were both looking out my window for Branden’s car. Right before he got to my apartment it started pouring rain! I was so annoyed since I just just done my hair so Maggie was like put this towel over your head, ha! Super classy.

I ran down to his car since there was no parking near our apartment. I got in and neither of us could think of anything to really do since it was raining so hard and we decided to just drive around and talk before Bran had to go to work. So romantic! haha!

 photo 650_612494978041_2270_n_zpsd1d08493.jpg
After that night I was kind of iffy on if I wanted to go back out with him. I went back to my parents for another week or so before heading back to Tampa for good. I remember my friend Maggie being like just give him another shot, you are so picky! I decided to go for it and we went on another date to go see Transformers. It was right after Branden’s birthday and we had both really wanted to see the movie. He came over to pick me up and I remember thinking woah this guy is hot! He was wearing a backwards hat, a button up shirt and ripped jeans. He has this all American boy look with the cutest dimple. We ended up having the best time together that day and from that moment on I was hooked!

How’d you and your partner meet?

Coming soon…Part 2: The Break up & the Make up!
