Our “wild & crazy” early 20’s
When my besties and I were in our early 20’s we loved all the celebrity gossip websites. One of our favorites was Perez Hilton. As I got older I lost my interest and actually hated how cruel he was to so many celebs. It broke my heart to see him calling Khloe Kardashian a tranny, like how unfair is that?
Fast forward a little less than a decade and I am reading he has toned down his nasty behavior and is a Daddy! I was shocked to read this news but also my heart softened towards him. I checked out his page and realized he wasn’t cruel like before but more entertaining and sarcastic. He didn’t have the same demeaning tone and just stated what was going on in the celebrity world. I still lack the interest I once had in all the hollywood gossip but I do find it interesting to read about how he changed his life for the better. He talked about how he felt horrible about himself and wanted to change. It reminded me of what my Mom always told me growing up. She would say “If someone is being mean to you they usually are hurting in their own life and to not take offense to it.” It’s a hard thing not taking offense to what people do or say to you but I read this article and it was eye opening. I always appreciate when someone can change their life for the better, right their wrongs and talk about how they did it.
Tuesday Ace got his Citrus Lane box in the mail. I decided to record him opening it so you guys can see our first look and impression of the box. I was really impressed with this months box. He got a Cloud b Plush Aroma Pillow ($11.69) , a Robots Puzzle Wheel ($6.88) , some fun rub on tattoos and Nurturme Organic Baby Food Pouches.
The only thing I don’t care for are the food pouches but other than that I really loved this box.
If you know me then you know I am as far from Betty Crocker as you can get. My cooking skills are not the most spectacular.
The other night I was scouring Pinterest for an easy Salmon recipe. I came across this one and kind of made it my own by mistake. The thing I like about this recipe is you can add more veggies if you’d like but this is what I had on hand. I was thinking some cherry or sun tried tomatoes would have been really good in this as well.
First I used tortellini instead of ravioli. Anyway here is my easy recipe for a delicious salmon recipe.
- 2.5 Cups Tortellini
- 1 Lemon
- 6 ounces skinless, salmon fillets
- Salt & ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 6 ounces package baby spinach
- 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Parmesan Cheese
- Cook tortellini according to directions on package
- Halve lemon. Squeeze juice from one half of the lemon; cut remaining half into small wedges. Set lemon juice and wedges aside. Rinse salmon; pat dry. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet heat olive oil over medium head; add salmon; cook for 6 to 8 minutes, shred salmon as it cooks, turn through out. Once throughly cooked remove from skillet. Add butter, lemon juice and garlic to skillet, once butter is melted add spinach. Cook for 1 minute or until spinach is just wilted.
- Combine salmon, tortellini and spinach to bowl and top with parmesan cheese!
This past weekend we welcomed a new family member on St. Patrick’s Day! Branden’s sister had a beautiful baby boy, little Elliot. That little boy knows how to make his Irish Aunt proud. He is so precious. I wish we lived closer so we could go meet him but we will be going there in July. I can not wait.
It also brings the baby fever on even more. It is no secret it took us forever to get pregnant with Ace so we still worry it will be the same for baby number two. Keeping our fingers crossed it won’t though.
Ace is really into babies. He gets excited when he sees a new little one and tries to kiss them. It is very sweet coming from such a little bruiser.
I guess I will be daydreaming about having two littles for right now but hopefully in the future Ace will get to be a big brother and not just a big cousin even though that is pretty cool too.

I always forget where my phone is.
Because I misplace my phone all.the.time I always miss phone calls and then forget to return them.
I am obviously forgetful.
I am only 5’1 but will tell people I am 5’2.
My sister and I were mistaken for twins almost our entire lives.
I think messy beach waves are the best hairstyle ever.
I ate horribly when I was pregnant and only gained 22lbs and lost it all and some 3 weeks after having my son, I was that Mom. Then I gained it all back after I stopped breastfeeding. You can all stop being jealous now.
I love my besties!
I like dressing my son like a little metro boy and I love it.
I hate clothes that are super baby-ish or have animals on them unless they don’t look too cartoonish.
We are always a hot mess with pictures
My dream is to open a brick and mortar boutique but not in S. Fl.
My son is my world. He that he is silly, outgoing and friendly. It’s a bonus that he is his Daddy’s clone.
I am obsessed with my husband and son’s joker smiles. It has to be my favorite thing about both of them next to their dimple they each have.
It takes me forever to get a picture with my eyes open when there is a flash, I am a hot mess.
Thanking Little Miss Momma for the idea!
You are 20 months old. For some reason seeing that 2 makes me realize how close you are to actually turning 2. I know a lot of parents get sad about it but not me. You have grown so much and I love how much you are “maturing”. You are so fun and just a very cool little guy. I love how you are able to really understand and communicate what you want and need.
You went on your first cruise this past month which was crazy. I didn’t go on my first one till I was about 8! You are always such a little traveler.
You went to Cozumel, Mexico for the first time.
We are realizing though that it is becoming more and more difficult to travel with you since you are so busy. You are into everything.
You say so many words, I can’t even keep track of all the new ones you say.
You had your first milkshake, you were obsessed, we were sharing and you drank it all!
You call people by their names.
Your blanket or kiki is your new security item. You also found a paci and tried to use it, sorry, Dude, not happening! You wouldn’t use it when you were a newborn and you aren’t using it now. We do let you have your kiki though.
You are driving us a bit nuts with feeding the dogs your food. We are very much over that, it’s no longer cute.
You love your Jake and the Neverland Pirate toy. You ask for Jake a lot so we are planning on having a pirate party for your 2nd birthday.
You love the Itsy Bitsy Spider song and do the motions for it as well as the Wheels on the Bus which I think is really awesome.
You are definitely becoming very defiant when you want what you want and don’t get your way. This used to never be a big problem but I am hoping this doesn’t last very long. I noticed it started when you were at daycare for a bit so I am not sure if its the age or something to do with that or getting attention? Either way I am hoping that now that I am home with you we can work on that.
You are an incredible joy to us and such a blessing. We love you more and more everyday and I can not believe how big you are. I love you my handsome little boy!
