Ashlyn’s First Haircut at Disney!

By on October 29, 2014

Talk about being the favorite…just kidding.

So Ashlyn has had the most awful hair style lately. She was sporting a really awkward rat tail and wispy long strands in the front. I just couldn’t handle it any long so I knew we had to get her hair cut. I went to a few of my girl friends on where to take her but majority didn’t really have a suggestion since they didn’t really cut their daughter’s hair yet.

One friend, a lifesaver if you will, told me about Magic Kingdom’s Harmony Barber Shop. She took her daughter there for her first haircut and I immediately was sold. First of all it’s only $18! This includes the haircut (obvi), a certificate and Mickey Ears. Sold, sold and sold!
We decided to take her the night of Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party and got there around 5:15. It was basically empty and so first we had Ace get gel and pixie dust for some added fun for him. He loved it. The people there were exceptional. They even put some pixie dust in my nieces’ hair at no charge. Made their night!

Then it was Ashlyn’s turn. First of all Ashlyn is my stubborn child. If she doesn’t want to do something she won’t or will make it difficult for you to get her to do it. To say I was nervous about her letting someone cut her hair was an understatement. Well, let me tell you, she was not at all pissed about letting this stranger cut her hair, not one bit. The woman stuck Mickey stickers all over her to distract her and went to town on her hair. She was so good!
 photo 10389128_10103289533764811_6669141273496988164_n_zpsff926705.jpg
Then after her hair cut they brought out the 1st haircut Mickey Ears. I may have squealed.
And to make the experience even more amazing they put them on, turned her around and gave her a mirror and I got this snap shot of her. I mean there were actual tears in my eyes. I may be tearing up right now just typing this, don’t tell anyone!

If you know me then you know my Mom was a hairdresser and I always knew she’d be the first to cut all my children’s hair, especially the first haircut and with Ace we got that but with the girls we didn’t. It absolutely broke my heart knowing this and so the fact that Disney has such a special experience for a first hair cut really made this moment easier on me. I thought about my Mom being there the entire time and even though I was missing her deeply I was happy we made the decision to pick Disney for her first hair cute. I will do the same for Everly if she ever grows some hair…

By on October 20, 2014

Ashlyn’s birthday party was Friday night.

We decided to do a costume theme since it’s so close to Halloween.

How cool are these soda covers? Party City has them!

Branden and I had planned on being Alice and the Mad Hatter but I couldn’t find a good Alice costume and then we decided to make the whole family characters from Alice. Since it was Ashlyn’s birthday she got to be Alice instead of me.

My friend Alyssa made us the cutest Alice and Queen of heart apron’s for our costumes. I figured the apron would be cute for dress up too. photo 10434315_10205008794120773_1471421843384362580_n_zpsefc7d0f8.jpg

Ace and Everly were Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and we just made up their costumes ourselves. When I saw Ace dressed up I almost died over how cute it turned out.
Bran bought his costume online and he looked awesome.
Ok so back to her party. We had some friends and family come over to celebrate and everyone dressed up in such awesome costumes. My friend Christel was Anna from Frozen and Ace called her Anna the entire night, so cute!

Her beautiful cake done by Barb’s Cakes of Miramar

We got Ashlyn a little cupcake for her smash cake and she was not into it. She was so tired by that point though so I think that was probably why.

Overall her party was fun and I really loved all the costumes. I have a feeling she is going to have a lot of Halloween theme parties.

Happy Birthday, Ashlyn!

Happy Birthday, Ashlyn!!!
 photo ScreenShot2014-10-18at92818AM_zps6d4a9c20.png
You are 1 year old today.
 photo ScreenShot2014-10-18at92701AM_zps3feb6263.png
I still can not believe one year ago we were in California watching you come into this world. I got to cut your umbilical cord and see your cute chubby face for the first time.
 photo ScreenShot2014-10-18at92841AM_zps4160ae3f.png
There are no words to describe how incredible you are to us.
You are such a sweet, loving baby and I love that about you.
 photo ScreenShot2014-10-18at92929AM_zpsa9fc1c9a.png
As my friend Andreina says, you are an old soul. You are an observer and do things at your own pace.
You can walk to us from the couch and “talk” but mostly your words are a bunch of gibberish. You will mimic some things we say like ugh oh, mama, bop and shhh.
You can sign all done, more and milk but you rarely do any signs. You just don’t care to do them.
 photo ScreenShot2014-10-18at92749AM_zps25310464.png
You also can also take about 10 steps and getting more and more steady but you prefer crawling.
You are very clingy and do not like when Mommy walks away from you. You love to be rocked before going to sleep, which I love too. It’s probably my favorite time to just sit and be with you.
Everyone loves you and you are just the cutest little thing. We can’t wait to see what your next year brings!!

All photos done by my incredibly talented friend Lindsay Lago!

Shopping Maniacs

By on October 9, 2014

We have been so busy lately! Is October busy for anyone else? We have at least one birthday party every weekend this month. The first weekend was my nephews and he turned 3! Happy Birthday Gav!
Since it has been crazy busy I feel like most of my updates are through Instagram and Facebook. You might want to head over there to see some seriously adorable pictures from Ashlyn’s birthday photo shoot. I will be posting them here around her birthday though.
Anyway we have been trying to get our downstairs redecorated. Which means many, many trips to Home Depot for us. It has been such a challenge to find paint colors we like but finally found a grey we like. I made Branden paint the walls 3 times. Poor guy.
 photo 10403359_259405664183554_8764889907146170088_n_zpsd3a52844.jpg
I have also been super busy hanging out with my sister and new niece Valentina. I am slightly obsessed with her.
 photo 10645044_259442657513188_4849659132541033330_n_zps38b8c626.jpg
Ashley and I spend a lot of time shopping together. Our husbands are seriously going to make us stop hanging out because we always come home with a bunch of shopping bags.
 photo 1379367_259405734183547_8958976188954188827_n_zps544690fa.jpg
On that note I have realized how frustrating it is to go shopping with both girls. First of all I am so over the double stroller. It just is so heavy and a pain in the butt to get in and out of the car. It’s also so long that it is annoying to use on short trips to the store.
We were fortunate enough to get to try out the Binxy Baby Cart Hammock. I can not even tell you how much I love this! I wish I had it sooner.
Everly is still not fully sitting up on her own, for some reason she prefers to crawl and not sit up long enough to actually get the hang of sitting up so carts are not her thing. I also do not have my infant car seat anymore since I gave it to my sister so putting that in a cart when we go shopping was not an option. Also if you put that in the basket and Ashlyn in the seat there is no room for anything you are trying to buy.

 photo photocopy4_zps3f6412aa.jpg
Diaper bag

What I used to do was take the double stroller and grab a bunch of tote bags and hang them on the Mommy Hook and fill those up. It worked for shorter trips because I didn’t need as much stuff but when I really need the basket or to buy bigger things this was my nightmare. Bran and I always had to go to the store together and then we had all three kids. This was not always ideal because  then we would have two carts and Ace would always be restless after awhile. The girls are much better shopping buddies and going while he is at school means less crowded stores.
Ok so back to the Binxy Baby Cart Hammock.  This is seriously so ideal for us. Everly really likes laying in the hammock and she is super comfy in it. Ashlyn gets to sit in the seat and all of our groceries going under the hammock since it lays over the basket. It isn’t even difficult to grab things that are under her when you check out since it’s high above all your items.
 photo 10676354_260639677393486_7644907399169654916_n_zps75e7904d.jpg
The hammock even fits newborns! Valentina isn’t even 7lbs and she fits in it perfectly. She curled up and was so cozy in it.
I highly suggest this item for anyone with multiple children and one being in an infant car seat. I personally hate lugging the infant seats in and out of the car so my kids were always out of them by 4 or 5 months and before they were really sitting up so this makes putting them in a cart so simple. I used to have to use the carts with the infant seat that basically makes it impossible to see over the cart and also it just felt like those were gross and dirty so I would put a blanket over it but then felt like the blanket needed to be burned after. I know I am nuts.
Check out their site and seriously get this! I already have two friends that bought them and love it.
I received the Binxy Baby Cart Hammock for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Fall, You Little Tease!

By on October 6, 2014

Oh Fall, you little tease!
 photo photo5_zps55cfa6ca.jpg
If you are a Floridian, or more accurately a South Floridian (is that a thing?) than you understand that tease we get of the Fall weather. We had that Sunday.
See in Florida our weather usually consists of scorching hot, soaking wet from humidity hot and not too hot. We don’t really get cold weather here. If we do it’s 70 degrees and perfection. We like our 70 degree weather here. We consider that to be a gorgeous “Fall” day. I know most people would say we are crazy but come on, we are dying in the humidity and heat almost year round.

 photo photo2copy2_zpsdb2cdbd5.jpg
Ace’s jeans:Here and  Similar

So Sunday we that tease of Fall weather. I walked outside and said “Oh, it’s chilly!” Facebook was full of status updates of the change. My favorite was a picture my friend posted of her son posed like he was freezing. My son told our dog he couldn’t go outside because it was too cold. My cousins wore jean jackets (thanks for not including me in coordinating outfits!) and I don’t think I broke a sweat once.

 photo photo4copy2_zpsa9ad3967.jpg
Ashlyn’s romper: Similar

Now if we could only get a little more of that perfectly crisp Fall weather. Just don’t go lower than 65 degrees or I fear we will see a lot of Ugg boots and scarfs and there is no place for all that in South Florida (I’m kidding, we all know when it gets to 60 degrees we throw on our Uggs and coats!).
