When your kid loses their ever loving mind!

By on June 30, 2015

So I am pretty sure my son was possessed yesterday. It was like something or someone took over his little body and turned him into a complete mess.

Peg Perego Aria Twin lightweight Stroller

We started our day with swim lessons. I had to take the girls with me since Branden had to be at work early so I grabbed Starbucks to get me through.
He was great at swim, his instructor was using him as the example since he was doing so well. Then we go to the grocery store and overall the kids were really well behaved.

Then we head home and that is when the sh*t hit the fan. He was whining about anything and everything. Then he falls on his elbow and is hysterical. I felt horrible for him because that is like the worst! So he gets an ice pack and has a snack.

Later he is playing and runs into the island head first. Poor kid again was a mess. Then it’s lunch time and he bites his finger. At this point I was like what is going on here? Is this for real? Oh and he also got eaten by a mosquito in the car. If I could find that mosquito and pound him I would. My poor kids legs have like 6 swollen bites.

The girls also didn’t want to nap, super fun.

My sister came over to watch the girls while I brought Ace to karate. He has class with his friend Brody who also had a totally off day. This of course is the day Branden gets to come watch him and he randomly starts crying while sitting on the mat. We were all so confused. Then he gets scared at the end of class because they are playing a game the last 5 minutes of class.

We get home and he doesn’t want to eat dinner and then is cranky before bed. Branden thank God got him in a better mood but it was exhausting. I feel bad when he has an off day. He is generally a happy go lucky kid and doesn’t really throw big tantrums and gets over stuff quickly. Today has been better so far and I made him take a nap since he has hip hop tonight.
Anyone ever feel like a crap Mom when your kid is having an off day and you just can not make them happy or keep them from losing their minds? Thats totally how I felt yesterday.

Anyone else just have one of those days with your kid?

That Red, White and Blue!

By on June 29, 2015

First of all can we talk about how little my babies were last 4th of July? I can not believe how much things have changed since that photo was taken.
The 4th of July is right around the corner! I love everything about the 4th.
The fireworks, the food and of course the clothes!
Dressing the kids in red, white and blue is a must. I have been looking at some cute outfits and I am in love with this adorable eyelet dress for Everly. I got Ace this red and white stripe top with a star pocket from Target. And I can not even handle the cuteness of these star bubble shorts. These would be adorable on Ashlyn.
I am loving these American flag shorts from Charlotte Russe. I have a pair from Target that I love as well.
We are planning on hanging out in the pool and then checking out fireworks at a park by us so it should be a pretty laid back day. What are your plans for the 4th?

5 Best Character Breakfasts in Disney World

By on June 26, 2015

Today I am so excited to welcome Roxie Reynolds from I Heart Dreaming to Guest Post on Perfectly Imperfect Mom today. She is talking about one of my favorite places, Disney World!

Hello, my name is Roxie Reynolds. I’m a Disney obsessed college student from South Carolina. If you’re also a Disney fan come check out my blog I Heart Dreaming, where you may find anything from “Best resorts for families of 5 or more” to “50 Ways to Make Walt Disney World More Romantic”. You can also find me on Facebook , I Heart Disney Facebook Group, and Twitter

Character meals are one of the best parts about eating at Disney. Children love to meet their favorite characters while enjoying Disney’s famously delicious food options. Breakfast is the perfect choice for a character meal because the excitement and magic will set the tone for the day. Always book your character meals as far in advance as possible. Disney recommends at least 180 days in advance.

5. Animal Kingdom Tusker House

If you’re starting your day at Disney World in the Animal Kingdom, consider booking a character breakfast at the Tusker House. This popular restaurant is located in the Africa section in Animal Kingdom at the Harambe Marketplace. At this breakfast you will get to hobnob with Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, Goofy and Mickey Mouse. The best part is each character will be decked out in safari gear — fitting outfits for the environment. The restaurant is buffet-style and features a mix of classic American breakfast favorites and interesting African choices. You will find eggs, mickey waffles, quiche, and cereal right alongside basmati rice with lemon, cinnamon and cardamom and a tasty coconut sweet potato casserole. The ambiance is one of the biggest draws. The buffet is found in a “plaza-like” enclosure with colorful cloths slung up in the thatched roof.
Expect to pay around $18 for a kid’s breakfast and $30 for adults.

4. Supercalifragilistic Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare

This tongue-twister breakfast is located at the Disney’s Grand Floridian resort in the popular 1900 Park Fare restaurant. If you’re looking for a character breakfast in a sweet environment, this one is for you. The restaurant is fully decorated in a “fancy”, Victorian carousel theme. The room is awash in crèmes, pinks, and golds with impressive carousel statues scattered throughout. Look for the large, elaborate organ called “Big Bertha”. Kids will get to meet and take photos with unique characters such as Alice, the Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Tigger, and Winnie the Pooh. The food is classic and sure to please everyone. In the buffet you’ll find an array of fruits, pastries, pancakes, bacon, and eggs, but the most famous item on the menu is the strawberry soup, so make sure you give that a try.
Expect to pay around $13 for a kid’s breakfast and $25 for adults.

3. Crystal Palace

Your morning at The Magic Kingdom Park can get off to a truly magical start with the character breakfast The Crystal Palace. This Disney favorite was designed to emulate an 1800’s Victorian Greenhouse with sweeping white architecture, expansive windows, and plenty of topiaries and tropical palms. You’ll find Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger and Winnie the Pooh making their way through this sunny breakfast spot, entertaining kids and posing for pictures. The breakfast is buffet-style and features fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, eggs, and the popular build-your-own omelet station.
Expect to pay around $15 for a kid’s breakfast and $25 for adults.

2. Chef Mickey’s

Chef Mickey’s has always been the most popular character dining destination at Disney, and with good reason: it’s a total classic. One benefit to Chef Mickey’s over some of the other restaurants is that the restaurant serves both breakfast and brunch. Having the brunch option is nice for those days when the family needs to sleep in a little to get extra rest. The characters at Chef Mickey’s are the classic Disney favorites: Donald Duck, Goofy, Mickey Mouse, and Pluto. Each character is dressed up in chef jackets and hats, which adds to the fun atmosphere. Chef Mickey’s is not a relaxing, quiet breakfast locale. Of all the character meals, Chef Mickey’s is the most rambunctious. Expect lots of laughter, music, singing, and general loud merriment. The décor at Chef Mickey’s is colorful and contemporary, which is perfect because the restaurant is located in the Contemporary Resort right outside the Magic Kingdom. The restaurant is easily accessed by the monorail, which just so happens to run directly through the restaurant. The fare is classic and American.
Expect to pay $18 for a kid’s breakfast and $33 for adults.

1. Cinderella’s Castle

The breakfast at Cinderella’s Castle is a unique experience, and quite different from other options. First, this is the only breakfast included on this list that is not buffet style. The price of the meal is higher, but if your kids are interested in Disney princesses, the price is a small one to pay. At this breakfast, children will be greeted by the likes of Ariel, Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White and Jasmine. Children are encouraged to dress up in their own princess/prince costumes. The venue of the restaurant is impressive since it is located right within the castle. You’ll have views of sweeping stone arches, rich carpeting, medieval style tapestries and flags, and glittering candelabras. The food on this menu is fancier which is befitting to the setting. You’ll find items such as caramel apple stuffed French toast, beef tenderloin and egg, and poached lobster and shrimp.
Expect to pay around $35 for a child’s breakfast and $55 for adults.

Kitchen Remodel:The Beginning Vision

By on June 25, 2015

Have you ever just felt like your house is unfinished? Like you can’t quite get it the way you want it?

My DREAM Kitchen
Image used with permission: Credit

I have been feeling like that in our family room and kitchen area. I have never been able to fully make it feel like mine. My dining room was the first room I really was able to make feel like me but ever since I have been failing at the rest of the downstairs.
I think most of the reason is because the colors of the kitchen are not what appeals to me. The white cabinets are my style but the backsplash and counter tops are brown based and for some reason browns and reds really bother me. I am much more of a blue, grey and white person. But I think this is normal when you buy a house and aren’t able to really do what you want right off the bat.
I have been pinning kitchen ideas like crazy and we have finally settled on some ideas. I am hoping before I go back to work at the end of August we can make some of these ideas a reality.
The main area I want done is our island. I would love something like this and these counter tops are to die for.
I love these Threshold Brookline Tufted Counter Stools in Tutti Frutti or Aqua. Getting Branden to agree on those might be a long shot though.
We are thinking of removing our kitchen table area for now because Ashlyn and Everly are at the age where they pull everything off the table. It is such a hassle and if we have the island for an eating area we will be good with that for now. We are going to put a bench like this at the bay window and it will really open everything up. Eventually we will get another table for that area but right now we can do without. We always have the dining room if we need more seating.
We also need to get new flooring because our tile is old and dated so that will be first I think.
I also would love a new dishwasher because the buttons on the front drive me nuts! I always bump into it or the girls press them and it runs randomly. I seriously hate it. This Whirlpool one looks super amazing. I had no idea they made ones with the buttons on top till my friend got one. This would be amazing. Ours also looks a mess because the stainless steel is messed up.

Overall I think we could get some things done this summer but I think I am dreaming if I think we will have time to get it all done. We also have Ace’s birthday and Bran is going to Michigan so it might have to wait. I am just dying to get my island done. Wishful thinking?

What are some of your kitchen must haves?

Honest Company Trial Bundles!

By on June 24, 2015

Ok so I may have been living under a rock but I just recently got my first Honest Bundles in the mail and I can not say enough good things about The Honest Company’s products.
First of all can we talk about the cute print diapers? I have only really seen prints like these on cloth diapers so it was a real treat to see them on disposables as well. I mean lets be honest, my kids usually run around in diapers a lot of the day.
The first trial pack we tried out was the Diaper and Wipes Bundle. This comes with 7 diapers and a travel size wipe pack (10 wipes). Since Ashlyn has super sensitive skin and gets rashes very easily it’s always nice to find diapers and wipes that are gentle on her skin.

The next one we tried is the Essentials Bundle. This is amazing because they are all travel size. I always hate bringing baby stuff with me when we travel because I never have small containers for them. This was perfect and free! This trial bundle came with a shampoo & body wash, face & body lotion, multi-surface cleaner, healing balm and hand soap.
There are also Health and Wellness Bundle which I didn’t get a chance to try. They have two options, Prenatal Once Daily & DHA Complete and Baby & Toddler Multi Powder and Kid’s Chewable Multi-Vitamin.

So you’re probably wondering what the catch is? The only catch I found was that you have to pay shipping which is only $5.95. That is a great price for all those products!
I also had the opportunity to try out their Fruit & Veggie wash. My kids love fruit and I never feel like water gets everything off so this is a great way to get fruit clean of any icky-ness.
I always found removing wax from apples was the hardest so the fact that this does it for you is a huge plus! If you have kids that love fruits and veggies this is a must for your household. The only issue I had with this product is the smell. It has a weird smell to it but once you wash the fruit it’s gone. No clue why it has a smell but it’s all natural so that’s really all that matters to me.
Make sure to use the coupon AMBASSADOR10  to get $10 off your purchase of $25 or more!

I want to thank The Honest Company for giving me the opportunity to be an Ambassador and try out their amazing products.

Happy Father’s Day, Branden!

By on June 21, 2015

I want to wish a Happy Father’s Day to this stud muffin.

Branden,
You are an exceptional father.

Thank you for working late into the night and waking up early to get Ace to school and taking care of the girls so I could go back to work. Thank you for always picking up the slack and making sure our house isn’t too crazy of a disaster. Thank you for being my partner in this journey we are on with our three crazy kids!
You have made my life awesome by not only helping me raise our children but by loving me and being there for me. You were born to be a husband and a Dad. You manage the kids and the house way better than I ever could and I am so appreciative. You truly are the best. I love you so so much!

Happy Father’s Day, my love!

Which Side of The Force Are You On?

By on June 20, 2015

Many thanks to General Mills for sponsoring today’s story and letting me try new Star Wars Cereal!
As a little kid I loved fun cereals. If a cereal had a cool box or theme I was all about it.
Being a kid is all about imagination, fun times and new experiences.

Cereal Wars!

It’s waking up early, eating your favorite cereal and watching cartoons on the weekends.

It’s running through the sprinklers on a hot Summer day and having not a care in the world.
Being a kid is just about the best thing ever and adding a little excitement to their morning routine with these awesome special edition Star Wars cereals is so easy. You can get a $1.00 off coupon HERE.

Each box has their own character on it. We have Darth Vader and Yoda. The back of each box also has a game too. Ace loved playing checkers with me because he got to eat any of the pieces that were jumped. It’s such a fun little way to make mornings more tolerable when you aren’t quite ready to start the day.

So tell me which side of The Force are you on?!

Happy Summer!

By on June 9, 2015

Happy Summer Everyone!
We are already so busy and it’s only the first week.

We went to the New Kids on the Block, TLC and Nelly concert on Thursday night then headed to the Keys for the weekend with my best and her family.

After the Keys her oldest daughter Ashleen stayed with us for the week. She is so amazing with Ace and the girls so it’s been really nice having her here. Ace started Karate on Monday night with his best bud Brody and tonight he has Hip Hop class with Brody and their other best bud Riley. I am dying to see them all together.

Body and Ace at Karate and the bottom picture of them at swim class 2 summers ago

Has anyone else taken advantage of the dollar movies at Regal or Cinemark? We went today and saw Annie and it was really cute. I am sure we will be going to these a lot this summer.

We are also heading to a new Museum on Friday which I am excited about. Ace also has karate again on Thursday night so it’s going to be a really busy week.

Later in the Summer all the kids will be in swim lessons. Ace can swim but needs to gain more confidence so I am hoping it will help. Ashlyn wants to swim so badly that I am scared to not have her in swim lessons. Everly hates the water, like screams her head of if she gets even a drop on her so she should be fun at swim lessons.

What are your big plans for Summer?

Make sure to check out how you can win a $2,000 grant HERE

Spread the Love with Huggies Snug & Dry #UltraHug

By on

One of the biggest differences between having one baby and two babies at a time are the diaper changes. It feels like we are constantly changing diapers.
The girls are also really amazing sleepers at night so we are always looking for diapers that can handle their long nights sleep and not leak. This has been a challenge at times for us and we finally found our fit with Huggies Snug & Dry Ultra diapers!

These Huggies Snug & Dry Ultra Diapers offer long-lasting leakage protection you can count on, so you can focus on all of your baby’s daily adventures. The range of sizes fit babies from newborn to 35 lbs. Only Huggies Snug & Dry Ultra Diapers have a new, unique quilted liner to lock away wetness better. They have a conforming, gap-free fit to keep your active baby dry throughout the day The trusted Leak Lock® System has quick-absorbing layers for up to 12 hours of protection. Which is perfect for our girls that sleep 12 hours a night.
Since the girls also have very different body types, Ashlyn with a bigger lower body and Everly with a very slim one it’s always a bonus when diapers work for both of them. Some diapers have been tighter in the waist for Ashlyn but will fit Everly and others are the opposite. We found that Huggies Snug & Dry Ultra diapers work for both girls.
And how cute are the Disney prints? I mean if your kids are going to run around the backyard in diapers might as well have them in diapers that look cute!
Huggies has a campaign that is all about spreading the love around your local community by sharing a project that could benefit from a $2,000 grant from Huggies!
Huggies will be accepting selfies with the hashtag #UltraHug and feature them in a collage on the campaign page. On July 6th voting will begin to narrow down the 20 finalists to 10 winners who will win a $2,000 grant from Huggies for their nominated community initiative.
