A Day in the Life Summer Edition

By on July 11, 2016

I haven’t done a day in the life post since February so I figured it was about time. I love looking back on these.
Since it is Summer time our days home are usually filled with a lot of pool time so don’t be too surprised when you see a lot of pool pictures.
This morning the girls got up early. Seriously, why do they do this? I think we were up around 7am. I tried to get them to stay in bed longer till Everly said “Mommy, I poopin'” so I hopped out of bed and put her butt on the potty.

The girls and I headed downstairs while the boys slept a little longer. I gave them dry cereal and made a shake for myself. Not the best breakfast for them but since we have been out of town we were all out of milk. I wanted the kids to start working on learning activities so Ace did a worksheet while the girls did puzzles. Then Ace joined in with them when he was done.

After that they headed into the pool for a bit.

My friend Melissa text me to see if we wanted to meet up at the park so I got the kids ready and we headed there for 10:30. It was so hot! I think the heat index was 102 degrees. It was nice to get out though. The kids were really good and had fun. They had some snacks and around 11:30 or so we headed back home to eat lunch.

The kids ate lunch and then colored for awhile. They then decided it was pool time again. They played in the pool for probably an hour while Branden was at the grocery store.

When Bran got home the girls came in to watch to play then watch a movie. Ace played Skylander for a bit but ended up watching the movie with the girls.

Branden got home so we unloaded the groceries. A full fruit and veggie drawer makes me so happy.

Midway through Ace and Everly had some yogurt to snack on.

Then it was back in the pool because finishing the movie was not on the agenda apparently. I swear these kids are in and out of the pool all day. It has been the biggest life saver ever.

The kids colored while I made dinner. I then made tacos for dinner and the kids and I ate. Bran was working on the van so he ate later. Usually we do meals as a family though. It’s probably one of our most important and cherished times for us.

After dinner, you guessed it, the kids went back in the pool. I actually didn’t realize Branden was outside till we went out and he was talking to our neighbor. She is the sweetest little old lady ever. She is basically a second grandma to the kids. She had a box of cookies waiting for them so they chowed down on a couple of those and headed back in the pool.

Once they were worn out we tried a movie one more time. We put on The Good Dinosaur and they all were obsessed. Everly was super tired but made it through.

Once the movie was over it was time to get ready for bed. Bath, teeth brushed, pajamas, story and prayers and they were out.
Branden and I then had some time to chill out and watch shows we like. We are really into Big Brother. We watch it every Summer. I love that this season they brought back 4 people from previous seasons. I love the 8 pack! Anyone else watching Big Brother right now? What other shows are y’all really into?
Overall that is a pretty typical day in our house in the Summer. Filled with pool time, movies, coloring and playing. This week Ace will be in camp all week and the girls go two days a week so I am excited for some time to get things accomplished with our little ones at my feet!

A Day in the Life + Gift Card GIVEAWAY!

By on February 20, 2016

I haven’t done a day in the life post in so long so I thought it would be fun to journal what a typical day is for us. I chose a weekend day since the weekdays are not as interesting since I work now. You can see what our lives are like from the kids waking up to dinner time and past bedtime! Make sure you enter the GIVEAWAY at the end!
Thank you to Publix Viva Italia for Sponsoring this post!

The kids are up. Diapers are changed and we head downstairs for breakfast.
Then it is breakfast time. The girls usually eat waffles, fruit and milk. Ace will eat cereal.

Outside playtime! I love our backyard. We don’t have a large yard but we have a good size patio and the kids have fun stuff to play with making it easier for them to be entertained out there for awhile.

The kids came inside and played with some of the girls new toys. We did a joint party for them on Saturday. They are all really into pretend play.

Snack and playtime upstairs. A change of scenery is a must. Branden was cleaning the floors so the kids and I hung out upstairs and did puzzles and other random stuff in their rooms.
After picking up a RX it was lunch time! We all sit together at the table and eat together on weekends. It’s nice for me since I don’t get to do this during the week.

 12:45 PM

More playtime before naps. My sister came over so the kids played with her and my niece.
Nap time for the girls and quiet time for Ace. Bran and I watched The Walking Dead while they napped. OMG, no spoilers but OMG!

Girls are up and then it’s snack and TV time again for all three. After they finish their snacks they play some more.

Branden or myself will cook dinner. Sometimes it is both of us like tonight. We both kind of threw things in a pot to make some really delicious italian dish for the kids. I always use Hunts® Diced Tomatoes in our pasta dishes because it gives it some more substance. We also had a treat and I made Pillsbury crescent rolls. Another favorite.
Check out Publix for some major savings on their Viva Italia Sale now till the 2nd of March.

Dinner & Family Time!
Branden and I try to always eat dinner together as a family. We sit down together, pray, talk and eat dinner. I love hear what Ace’s favorite part of the day is. The girls are still a bit too young to talk much during dinner but they still talk or sing. We also find that if we sit together as a family and eat we have less issues with the kids eating. Ace and Ashlyn usually are our picky ones so this has made it a lot better. This night everyone was happy to eat and devoured dinner. Italian food is a huge hit with them.

More Playtime for the kids
Bath Time
The kids all take a bath at the same time, which makes life so much easier on me. I don’t know how much longer this will last since Ace is getting older but as of now they all love playing in the bathtub together.
Girls’ Bedtime
We have the same bedtime routine every night. We go into the girls room after baths, get PJ’s on and the kids play for a little bit. After they have played we read a couple of books of their choice then we sing songs, their favorite is The Wheels on the Bus. After that we read Goodnight Moon quietly and then the girls are off to bed.
Ace’s Bedtime
Ace’s bedtime varies between 8/8:30. It really just depends on how tired he is. If he has had a busy day it’s earlier. If he isn’t super tired we let him come hang out with us downstairs for a bit then we put him to bed. His routine is we read books then snuggle in bed till he falls asleep. He was having trouble going to sleep because he was really scared so we now like to lay with him till he falls asleep. He usually falls asleep within 10 minutes and it’s a nice time for us to just have a little one on one time with him. I really cherish this time with him.
Mommy and Daddy time.
If Branden isn’t working or isn’t working on school stuff this is when we get to just hang out together. We have our shows we like to watch so we cuddle on the couch (totally cheesy I know but we do) and I usually fall asleep on him at some point, ha!
I am usually passed out at this point. Branden not so much.

What’s in my… Diaper Bag

By on October 7, 2015

As a working Mom of three littles I have multiple bags I use throughout the week. I typically don’t have to go into my diaper bag until the weekend. When the weekends come we are usually on the go and the diaper bag needs to be packed and ready for us to head out the door. Here is what was in my diaper bag when I dumped it out.

1. Of course the number one thing we have in our diaper bags are diapers and wipes, shocker, I know. We have two different brands because Ashlyn is sensitive and Everly isn’t so Ev gets the cheaper brand, sorry girl!

 2. Ace always ends up throwing toy cars in my bag because he has to take them everywhere. This one was randomly in the cup holder. Glad I found it!

3. Another must for my pale kids is sunscreen. I prefer the sticks because it’s easy and we are less likely to get it in their eyes. Everly is the worst at letting us put sunscreen on so this makes it somewhat doable. Ashlyn likes to steal these and rub them all over so that’s super fun too.
4. Since Ashlyn’s hair is wild we keep a comb and some type of headband or clip in there. Branden is really particular about keeping her hair from being crazy because it gets so knotted.

5. Snacks are a must with three kids. I usually keep cheerios, crackers or raisins for the kids and a Perfectly Simple nutrition bar for me and Branden. I am really particular about any kind of snack bars because I have had some that are chalky and these aren’t. They are the perfect on the go snack. My favorite is the oatmeal chocolate chunk. They are the easiest options and don’t take up much space.
If you want to try them out get a $1.00 off coupon HERE
6. Nose & Face wipes are just nice to have in case we have runny noses or messy faces.
7. We have an extra paci hanging out in there in case someone really needs one. They usually don’t use them during the day anymore but it’s definitely a must have just in case we have serious meltdowns.
8. When I actually wear my contacts I have to wear sunglasses. My eyes are so sensitive that I need them! If I forget them I am so miserable and have to squint to block out the sun. I try to stash a pair in each of my bags.
So that’s it! Obviously we throw in some sippy cups, wallet and keys last minute but overall I try to keep the other things in there at all times so I don’t have to pack too much in a rush. It works out well and we rarely forget anything.
So what do you keep in your diaper bag?
Today’s post is sponsored by ZonePerfect, but my love for their Perfectly Simple nutrition bars is an opinion all my own!

Make sure you head over to the giveaways going on now!

A Day in the Life: Mondays

By on November 7, 2012
I have received many questions about what my daily day is like with being a stay at home Mom and watching another toddler. Each day is different for us since we spend some days at home, some days at Brady’s house and then we have Kayden with us two days a week. Here is a typical Monday, this is my shortest work day.

I wake up, get ready for the day, feed the dogs. I clean up the living room and wait for Kayden to get here.

Morning Sunshine!
7:30AM: I wake up, get ready for the day, feed the dogs. I clean up the living room and wait for Kayden to get here.
Wakey, Wakey!
8:00AM: Kayden is here!
8:15AM: Leave to pick up Brady.
9:00AM: Get home, feed Ace since he usually has just woken up and has been home with Branden. Branden leaves for work.
9:30AM: Lots of playtime!
Three cuties
10:30AM: Boys go down for a morning nap.

11:00 AM: Kayden has lunch and leaves at 11:30.
NOON: Boys are up and have lunch.

12:30PM: Boys play, read books, sing songs, sometimes will watch a show.

2:00PM: Take Brady home.
3:00PM: Get home.
3:30PM: Ace goes down for a second nap.
5:00PM: Ace wakes up, I make dinner.
Ace feeds the dogs, isn’t he sweet?

5:45PM: Dinner time.
6:45PM: Daddy comes home!

7:00PM: Bath time!
7:30PM: One on one time with Ace. Milk and story time.

8:00PM: Bedtime.
And that’s it! Our day in a nutshell. What is your daily routine like?
