EAT: Halloween Mummy Dogs + a GIVEAWAY!

By on October 17, 2015

Friday nights I always try to do something fun with the kids. Even if it’s as simple as getting a movie and eating something out of the ordinary to kick off the weekend.

Last week was a long week at work since we were doing testing so I really wanted to just do something that was easy but still felt like we weren’t just sitting around at home. Branden and Ace went to the store and got a movie (only $0.50 from RedBox!), some hot dogs, meatballs and some Pillsbury Crescent Rolls so we could make something fun!

We found this super cute recipe on how to make Mummy Dogs and Mummy Meatballs. It’s really easy and your kids can help you make them. For all the details click HERE. You can also get $1.00 off of 2 Pillsbury Refrigerated Baked Goods Products from October 1st – October 30th.
Everly is what we call our garbage disposal. She eats anything and everything and she eats it fast. I actually looked over at her and didn’t see her food anymore and asked Branden if she dropped it but nope, she ate it that fast. It’s scary, really. She obviously loved these and wanted seconds, ha!
Ashlyn is my pickiest eater so I was surprised she ate them. I think she has only had a hot dog once and she rarely likes meat so it was a shocker that she finished hers and asked for a Mummy Meatball also!

Mummy Dogs and a Mummy Meatball!

Ace had so much fun with these Mummy Dogs. He loved that they had eyes. It was also a good way for him to try mustard since he usually sticks to ketchup. We gave him a fork and he would dip it in the mustard to put eyes or hair on his mummy after he licked it off.

Pumpkin Patch 2013

By on October 7, 2013
Happy Monday! First, if you haven’t checked out my crazy big Giveaway go check it out now!
On to what we have been up to. This weekend we were quite busy. First of all my husband is a rock star and got me this awesome Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack in Almond Raspberry for our girlies.

Then on Saturday morning I had to go pick up my dress for my sister’s wedding so I took Ace to get a milkshake and that boy was so happy! He had the biggest smile ever when I told him I was going to get him one.

Saturday around 5 we went to the Pumpkin Patch. I wanted to go before we left for Cali to get Ashlyn.

They had a Mater car there and Ace was obsessed!  It was so hard getting him away from it. When we had to leave there may have been a slight tantrum over leaving the car.

Probably the best shot I got of him, hoping when we go back with our friends on Tuesday I can get a better one.

They have pumpkin painting there and Ace loved it.

We had a fun time together and Ace really liked Mater so I am really worried when we go back with his friends he is going to glue himself to the truck. Wish me luck!

Next up, Gavin’s 2nd Birthday Party! I am waiting on pics from my sister-in-law because the decor was so cute!

Have you made it out to the pumpkin patch yet?!

Guest Post: Throwing the Best Halloween Bash for Your Little One

By on October 3, 2013
Don’t forget to check out my HUGE GIVEAWAY with over $200 in prizes.

Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s finally time to start planning the best parties of the year! While grown-ups will enjoy ghoulish galas and spooky soirees, Halloween also provides the perfect inspiration for a fabulous kids party. Gather the little ones together and plan a fun-filled event featuring lots of pumpkins, sweets, and exciting activities.
Here are a few creative Halloween party ideas for kids to get you started:

Pumpkin Cupcakes
No party is complete without sweets, and pumpkin cupcakes will help to create the spook-tastic theme for your kid-friendly Halloween event. Bake cupcakes in your favorite flavor and then let the decorating begin! Use orange frosting as the base, and a small tube of black frosting to draw on jack-o-lantern faces. These are always a Halloween party hit and can also double as a Halloween party activity. If you’re planning to let the kids decorate their own cupcakes, provide a buffet of interesting toppings like black licorice, candy corn, and edible glitter.
Dance Music
Like any good party, there should be great music to set the mood at your Halloween party for little ones. Here is a list of songs to help create your Halloween mix:

  • The Addams Family Theme Song
  • “Monster Mash”—Bobby Boris Pickett
  • “Clap for the Wolfman”—The Guess Who
  • “The Flying Purple People Eater”—Sheb Wooley
  • “Ghostbusters” Theme Song—Ray Parker Junior
  • “Hedwig’s Theme”—from Harry Potter
  • “I Put a Spell on You”—Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
  • “Little Red Riding Hood”—Amanda Seyfried
  • “Thriller”—Michael Jackson
  • “I’m Your Boogie Man”—KC & The Sunshine Band

Pumpkin Painting
A fun Halloween craft activity is a great way to entertain young guests. Pumpkin painting is perfect for kids because they can paint regardless of their skill level and have a great time. It also makes for a much safer alternative to pumpkin carving since there are no sharp objects involved. Be sure to designate an area for the kids to paint (lawns make great target sites), and lay down plenty of newspaper. Remember to ask parents to bring appropriate painting clothes, or provide smocks for all your young pumpkin artists.
Ghost/Monster Storytelling
Kids love story time, and Halloween has inspired some wonderfully spooky tales. Gather the kids for a bewitching book reading. The story you choose will have to depend upon the ages and maturity levels of the kids at your party. Two crowd pleasers like Go Away Big Green Monster by Ed Emberley and Leonardo the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems are sure to be a hit!

Party Favors
At the end of your kids Halloween party, send your guests home with a memorable party favor. The party goers can take home their painted pumpkins, but you can also put together little sacks with fun Halloween items like zombie eye patches, skeleton necklaces, and ghost stickers. Don’t forget to throw in a little candy corn for the ride home!
Thank You Cards
Don’t forget to thank your guest with eco-friendly eCard.

Halloween Fun!

By on October 30, 2011

My parents had a little family Halloween party yesterday. It was super cute and fun. We had lots of Halloween treats and a pumpkin carving contest. We dressed Mr. Man in his bumblebee costume and he looked super adorable. My brother’s kids also came and they dressed up and my newest nephew was a pumpkin. We got a lot of cute pictures too. Ace is 15 weeks old as well and he is just getting to be more and more fun each day. Today he was grabbing his new froggy toy and it was just so cute watching him try to grab it and pull it to his mouth. Soon enough he will really be playing with his toys. I just love that little guy so much!

How cute are the ghost ones? My Mom is so cute!

The Littlest Pumpkin!

By on October 17, 2011
First Pumpkin Patch visit!

October has been quite the busy month for Mr. Ace. He had his first beach visit, pumpkin patch visit and turned 3 months old!
My big beautiful boy is 3 months old today and I just fall more in love with him everyday. He is just so sweet and silly. He smiles and laughs and is so happy now. He used to be so cranky due to his tummy issues but now he really is such a joy.
Last night he had his first pumpkin patch visit. It was nice to go at night because it was cool out and there wasn’t really anyone else there. My bestfriend and her boyfriend met up with us and we took some pictures and got a few baby pumpkins.
Today we had his 3 month photos taken as well as a few family ones and ones of him in his bumblebee costume. He looked so incredibly cute. The photographer has the photos still but we got a few snapshots from our phones. I can not wait to get the CD with all his pictures.

About Me | Halloween | Weekend Rewind

Weekend update!

By on November 1, 2010

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend because we did!

First meeting his new brothers

On Saturday we got our new dog Simon. He is awesome. So well behaved and gets along great with our dogs, especially Tanner. They are best friends.

Simon and Tanner best friends

The on Saturday night we went to dinner with my cousin Mike, his wife Teresa and their son Brian. It was great seeing them. We don’t hang out with them enough. We were invited to see Brian’s band play on Halloween so I was really excited to go to that. He has an awesome band. Parts of it are a little intense because they do that scary screaming at some points but when they sing its awesome. They are a Christian band too.

Tyson and Me

On Halloween we got ready and dressed the dogs up. Tanner was a convict, Simon was a skeleton and Tyson was a spider. I was Carrie Bradshaw and Bran was a Mob/Gangster guy.

Our little family

Then we went to my cousin’s church and had a great time.
