Ace’s Bedroom

By on February 14, 2014

I have been meaning to get pictures up of Ace’s room for forever. I finally took some and here they are! I tried to find products that are similar to the one we have since a lot of the things I bought awhile ago.

The DREAM sign I got from Pier 1 about 3 years ago. I love it for his room.

I took wood letters from Michaels and spray paint them silver. The shelf is from Home Goods. I love the look of it. Such a good find.

Just a view of his crib. His little rug is from Target. I bought it probably a year ago. I am getting rid of it and want to get a red one. Link to the one I want HERE

This dresser was my sisters. Its definitely seen better days but I love how big it is and is a really sturdy wood. I eventually would love to paint and distress it. The Uncle Sam painting my Dad painting when he was younger. He gave it to me when I was probably 16. It’s one of my most treasured items.

A view of Ace’s room from his door. To the right is his Boat Toddler Bed. We have it in there but he obviously doesn’t sleep in it.

Ashlyn & Everly’s Nursery!

By on January 20, 2014
Oh hey there! Just me popping in again since I am forever MIA it seems like.
We have been super busy lately. The most exciting thing for me right now is Ashlyn and Everly’s nursery! We are not even close to being done but we got things started on it the past week. Branden painted it, got the curtains up and we got their bedding. I am obsessed with it.
I had been eyeing this bedding for forever but I just kept thing maybe I wanted a more plain bed flowy type bedding but gave up and went with my original plan.
Here is the one side of the room, we still need to get their dresser upstairs and hang somethings on the walls but you can see the rocker and curtains. I am obsessed with the curtains.

And here is their bedding, sorry the quality sucks but this was taken form my Instagram! I am so in love with it. They had a super good deal on the 4 Piece Crib Bedding Set on Amazon and thank God since we bought two sets. Babies R Us had it too but it was way more. I love Amazon!! We also have Amazon Prime so we got free shipping, woot!!

More photos coming soon. We will be finishing it up within the next week. We still need to get their monograms painted and up and then their dresser/changing table in there.

Guest Post: Four Tips For Remodeling On a Budget

By on September 5, 2013

photo ScreenShot2013-09-05at35350PM_zps370f73f3.pngHome remodeling is a wonderful way to increase the value of your home, but it’s important not to go overboard and spend more than you end up gaining in value. Kitchens and bathrooms are the areas that tend to look dated the fastest, so these are the areas that homeowners are most likely to remodel. Be sure to plan your remodeling project carefully and have a realistic budget before you begin.
Start Small
The things that people notice the most in other people’s homes are often the smallest details. Just putting new pulls on your drawers and handles on your cabinets can bring a fresh look to your kitchen or bathroom. The hardware is inexpensive, and most people can change it themselves with little effort. You can install new covers on all your switch plates at the same time to update your rooms in just a few hours.
Rearrange Your Furniture or Appliances
Simply rearranging a room can give it a completely different look and feel. It’s difficult to rearrange your kitchen because of the fixtures, but you can give your bedroom, living room or office an entirely different feel by changing the way the furniture is arranged. You may need to store a few things in your garage or outside while you are reorganizing, so pay closer attention to your home security to keep your belongings safe.
Add Mirrors and Lighting
One of the biggest complaints that many homeowners have about their homes is the lack of natural light. Adding more windows to your home may be an option, but it is expensive and time consuming. Another option is to add a mirror on the wall opposite every window in your home to reflect the natural light. You can also add more lighting to dark corners and hallways to increase the amount of light in your home.
Redecorate
Replacing the decor items in your room with a new theme is another inexpensive way to change the look and feel of your home. Be sure to clear all of your old decor items out before adding new ones so that your spaces don’t end up looking cluttered and disorganized. Recovering your furniture or adding new accent pillows also changes the look of the room. A fresh coat of paint and new window blinds or curtains finish the updated look of any room. Repainting a room has a huge impact on how it looks and paint offers a big bang for your remodeling buck.

My Dream Dining Room Comes to Life!

By on June 26, 2013
dining room photo 922767_204605882996866_843149947_n_zpsa5dd11dc.jpg

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you probably have been getting a sneak peak at how our house is coming along.

I am so obsessed with our dining room. It came out better than I imagined! The picture is on the blurry side since this was from my Instagram so I will get better pictures once we are done with it.

We still need to get curtains and some wall decor for the opposite wall. No clue what I am putting there.
Our table also needs a bench for the side closest to the sideboard table.

Anyone else have any new home updates?

Playroom Update

By on May 22, 2013
 photo ScreenShot2013-04-22at124953PM_zps35be8c2e.png

If you follow me on Facebook then you probably already saw this picture. Since moving into our new house we have been trying to decide on paint colors and decor. It’s been tough since we went from a one story house to a two story home with very high ceilings. We love the space and look of our new house but it has been a challenge. The main challenge is our playroom which took the place of a formal living room.

 photo ScreenShot2013-05-01at15936PM_zpsd8c1b654.png

This room has the highest ceilings and attaches to the dining room. We bought these curtains which gave us a basis for colors. I loved the idea of blue and reds together for the playroom. It is kid and adult friendly.

I love the playroom above. It is my inspiration for Ace’s playroom. I love, love, love the red frame with the fabric pieces inside it.

Sideboard Table Love!

By on February 18, 2013

Has there ever been a piece of furniture you saw and just had.to.have? You just have to have it like yesterday. Well, that was how I felt about this incredible sideboard table. I have been browsing Pinterest looking for home decor ideas and stumbled across this sideboard table. I fell in love! I was debating on getting it because of the high shipping cost but thankfully because of the holiday weekend I got it with FREE shipping. Heck yeah! Talk about making my night. I had planned on waiting to buy it when we moved so we wouldn’t have one more piece of furniture to move but I could not pass up the free shipping. Even with the shipping it was worth the price to me.

Has there ever been that one piece of furniture you had your heart set on and just had to have?

Red, White and Blue Toddler Room!

By on January 13, 2013

PhotobucketI am not sure if I have mentioned this yet but this year we plan on buying our first home! With this I really want to make over Ace’s bed room. I want the “theme” to be Red, White and Blue and Nautical. My Dad had painted this awesome picture of Uncle Sam, it is similar to the “I Want You” pictures but instead of pointing he made him giving the peace sign, cool, right? He had given it to me when I was probably 16 and I have always loved it. I told Branden when Ace got bigger I wanted it to be in his room so we will be going off of that.
PhotobucketPhotobucketI of course have been pinning a bunch of ideas for his “big boy” room and can not wait to get started. I recently saw some awesome things on Zulily so I snatched those up. I can’t wait to get them in the mail. My husband might want to slightly strangle me because I am bringing all these things in and we need to be cleaning the house out, ha! I am obsessed with these anchor totes for his toys. How cute is it? I got two so I figured one can be for his stuffed animals and the other for his books or for his blogs and legos.
I also grabbed this adorable pillow which I am not sure if I will put it in Ace’s room or our room but I really liked it and it was only $8.99! Throw pillows are always so expensive and I like ones that are a bit more unique so this one was really my style. I thought it would be cute in Ace’s room with the big number 3 but since it is more of a cream color I am not sure if it will look good or not. We will see!

Photobucket

I saw this Kidkraft Boat Toddler  bed at the local consignment store’s website. I am really hoping they still have it.

Any tips on nautical or red, white and blue bedding? I am having trouble with that part.

Guest Post: Home Essentials!

By on November 13, 2012

Home essentials – how to make your home look and feel great
If you’ve just moved house, the chances are that you’re living out of boxes and aren’t quite sure where to start in terms of making your new house feel like a home. Since moving to a new area and home can be daunting, here are a few helpful tips and tricks to help you create a nest you’ll be proud of:
Clever lighting
{source}
For any house that’s been empty for a few weeks, it’s a smart idea to let in as much light and air as you can to freshen the place up. If you’re worried about smaller rooms feeling cramped, invest in extra side lamps or large mirrors, which are a great trick for making a living space feel bigger and brighter. You shouldn’t have to break the bank, though – make a trip to your local second-hand antiques shop and see what you can find.
It’s all in the detail
Since the living room is the heart of the home, make this space more welcoming by adding piles of colourful hardbacks or magazines to your coffee table. It’s important to put your own stamp on your new home, and small decorations like this are great for saying something about you and your family’s tastes. Mix up fashion mags with art books, or add a personal touch by displaying family photo albums. This will also help any guests or neighbours to feel relaxed when they come to visit.
Involve the whole family
If you have young children, encourage them to join in on decorating their new bedrooms with toys and pictures – letting them make decisions will help youngsters feel more at home. Most importantly, don’t feel like you have to do all the hard work on your own – make unpacking a joint family activity and work one room at a time to make the task more manageable.

Wise Decor Review & Giveaway!

By on November 2, 2012
HAPPY NOVEMBER EVERYONE!!! We are kicking off November with an amazing giveaway. This is the first of many so keep a look out for more!

Tell me I am not the only one who draws a blank on decorating the walls? I seriously feel like I either over do it or my walls are underwhelming.
I recently had the change to work with Wise Decor and I received a beautiful wall decal for our kitchen table area. This area has been my all time nightmare to decorate. I have tried pictures, repainting the walls, everything! When I looked at Wise Decor‘s site I loved their Table Rules decal. It was the perfect fit for our little area where we  enjoy our meals. I also love that it has the simple values taught to my husband and I when we were children. My favorite rule is “Give Thanks”.
I think this has got to be one of the easiest and beautiful ways to give any room sometimes special. They also offer personalized decals.

{source}

One of my other favorite decals their site offers is the monogrammed chalk board calendar. How cool is that? A chalk board decal! You don’t have to paint your wall with chalkboard paint to get this affect which is so awesome to me.

Now you can win a $50 gift card to Wise Decal! All you have to do is be a follower of Perfectly Imperfect Mom and follow a few simple entries!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

* I received a decal to review for Wise Decor. I was not paid for a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
