It Works!

By on March 4, 2013

Who has heard of this It Works wrap that has been all over the internet lately? Well, if you haven’t you have got to read this. I tried this wrap last night and was super skeptical about it. I was like yeah I am sure it might do something but I didn’t expect much at all. Even Branden was like alright times up lets see these insane results, ha! We were both just being super ridiculous about it.
Well, then he unwrapped me and yeah, definitely a difference! They say you actually see more of a difference 24 to 72 hours after the wrap so I am super excited about that and I am actually ordering one more to try out again.
So here is the deal, you put the wrap on then wrap yourself in cellophane, super hot look and then do whatever for 45 minutes. After that you unwrap yourself and bam you feel like your skin is way more toned up. The thing I also liked about the wraps are the smell, it has this minty smell which is pretty cool. Afterwards I had this tingly feeling going on which I didn’t have during the wrap though.
So how does this ah-mah-zing wrap work? Well, it goes a little something like this…
How does the Ultimate Applicator Work?

The Ultimate Applicator works by tightening, toning and firming. Daily, toxins are naturally removed from the body by your stool, urine and the air you breathe out. The ingredients continue to work for 72 hours after you have applied the Ultimate Applicator, so you may continue to see progressive results over this time period.”

  • An exclusive, botanically-based body contouring treatment
  • Detoxifies, tightens, tones and firms where applied to the skin
  • Minimizes the appearance of cellulite and skin slackening
  • See dramatic, lasting results in as little as 45 minutes
  • Completely customizable body contouring system
This was all taken from the brochure I got and I have to agree with all of it.
So here I am waiting to see the ultimate results after 72 hours, best advice they give is to chug a lot of water to help get all the toxins out of your body and all that fun jazz.

Summer Style Must Haves: Day to Night

By on February 21, 2013

With spring and summer right around the corner and the fact that Florida is already super hot I decided to check out Pinterest and see what was out there. We all know the chevron print is totally in and I found the cutest dress! This Navy Chevron Print Belted Dress is to die for! I love this for dinner out with friends or a date night. It also is the perfect dress for lunch with your girlfriends because it is light and airy which means you won’t feel over dressed.

I also wanted a pair of Boyfriend Jeans for running around running errands. It is a good compromise between shorts and regular jeans, don’t you think? You can still manage to look put together and casual all at the same time. When it comes to going out at night just throw on a pair of simple black heels and a flowy top and you are good to go!

For a dressier look I love these Skinny Mini Skimmer Khakis, they are easy to wear and look stylish. During the day you can pair it with a simple white t-shirt and a pair of flats and dress it up at night with heels, some statement jewelry and even a khaki blazer.

I am a huge fan of loose tops in the spring and summer. It just adds to the laid back style of summer. This Chiffon Pullover  in white is the perfect top to go with a pair of cut off shorts during the day or tucked into a body con skirt at night. It is a top you will end up wearing year round, guaranteed.

Au Natural Baby model, Maggie with Ace, she’s rocking the gold jewelry!

So what is the 5th item to add to your summer wardrobe? Jewelry of course! Jewelry can make any outfit go from day to night in an instant. Take a couple of bangles and throw them on for a fun daytime look, add a statement necklace or ring to the look for night. Want to draw attention to your face? Add a pair of statement earrings. Gold is very in right now so don’t be afraid of it.

iPhone Tap Trak App!

By on October 24, 2012
Calling all iPhone users! Have you heard of the new App called TapTrak? Well, if you haven’t now is the time to go check it out. TapTrak is a micro-journal app that helps keep life organized and documented.  Basically this app is great for everyone because we are all trying to do just that and keep track of our daily lives all while being connected through Facebook and Twitter. This app helps you set goals, keep track of dates, sets reminders and so much more.

When I began using this app I set up a To Do List, Fitness Section and a Christmas List for Ace. I loved being able to keep track of each of these lists on my phone because I have it with me at all times. If I see something I think Ace will like for Christmas I can quickly tap it into my phone and save it to that specific folder.

When I work out I can easily keep track of how many push ups, crunches, sit ups and jumping jacks I do. There is also a timer and stop watch which is perfect for running. The To Do list is great because if you want to use it over each week you just reset it and you can have the same list without making a new one each week. Simple as that!

My Handy To Do List for the Day!

Another thing I thought about when using this app was how handy it would have been when I first had Ace. Those first few weeks were extremely difficult. He cried all the time. I was nursing, pumping and supplementing. As anyone who has ever breastfed knows it is a very tiring “job”. You also want to remember which side you last fed your baby on, how long your baby nursed for on each side, time in between nursing and throw pumping and supplementing into the mix and you are going to be one stressed out Mom. TapTrak can actually help alleviate some of that stress.
Another great feature is you can use it through your child’s growth. Record when your child first smiled and then instantly share it through Facebook or Twitter right from the app! The first year of your child’s life can be exhausting but also the most incredible time. There are so many experiences, firsts and moments that we want to remember. This app makes keeping those memories for you to look back on easy to store and share. I wish I had had this app when Ace was born or heck, even when I was pregnant so I could track doctors appointments, weight gain, prenatal pill reminders and anything else my pregnancy brain forgot about.
Connect to TapTrack
* This is a sponsored post. I was not paid for a positive review for this product. All thoughts are my own.

I am so excited about this Citrus Lane Discount! This has been the best one I have seen yet. $10 off a month subscription! That means you get everything delivered to your door for only $15.
Use code: 10MONTH to get this amazing discount NOW!
I am so bummed I didn’t order sooner because August’s gift set was so cute. I can not wait to see what the next one has in store for Ace. I will post the second we get it in the mail!

For those of you who have no idea what Citrus Lane is then you are in for a treat! It is a monthly subscription ( you can do one month and up to a year) where you get cute items specifically for your child’s age and gender that go along with that month’s theme. The above picture was for toddlers in August and the theme was back to school.

Another cute box I found on their side was Bed and Bath for little Crawlers. Ace loves nesting cups and how cute is that book?

Must Have Shoes!

By on October 5, 2012

What woman doesn’t love shoes? With the start of the Fall season and Winter right around the corner I wanted to share my top picks from Westfield for the cooler seasons.

Hylda Riding Boots: These boots can be worn during your everyday errands and look fabulous with a pair of skinny jeans, white t-shirt and a statement necklace. Check out their other women’s boots if riding boots aren’t quite your style.

Urge Burn Flats

Fun Ballet Flats: I am not one of those stylish women who runs errands or chases babies around in heels. It just doesn’t happen (and if you are you have my admiration). I could, though, live in ballet flats. I love animal print for Fall and a splash of color for Winter.

Apricot Calf Flats

A Classic Pair of Peep Toe Heels: With all the Holiday parties coming up, the last thing you want to do is spend all your gift money on a new pair of heels for every dress you buy for all these events. I love a great pair of black or nude heels can go a long way and save you money.

Denver Nude Heels

Fun New Years Eve High Heels: I know I said a class pair of  heels right before this but I think New Years Eve is the night you can go all out when it comes to shoes. You can go with the most over the top heels and not look like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I mean, these shoes are pretty amazing!

Featured Friday: Sarah from Frills for Thrills

By on August 3, 2012

I am thrilled to have Sarah from Frills for Thrills to be guest posting today. She is pregnant with her first child, a little boy! I found her page through Merrick’s blog who was featured here on her Mommy Style. I loved Sarah’s blog and style so much that I asked her to do a similar post but to talk about Pregnancy style. here is her post.

Hello Perfectly Imperfect Mom readers!
My name is Sarah and I blog over at Frills for Thrills. Most of my posts are pictures of my daily attire, accompanied by some thoughts on life.
Sometimes funny and sometimes deep… you never know what you’re gonna get!
Fashion has always been a passion of mine, and blogging is just one way for me to enjoy the beauty and creativity of getting dressed every day.
By the age of three I was dressing myself and doing my own hair. I always had a distinct style and knew what I liked and what I didn’t. Diva much? Hahaha!
My self expression through clothes only grew as I did and I looked always looked forward to getting dressed every day.
That is, until I got pregnant.
Some of my friends say they loved being pregnant because they had an excuse to have a big belly. I don’t mind having the belly, but sometimes it’s just uncomfortable! Add to that the fact that your self-esteem is the lowest it’s ever been (at least for me it has), so it’d be nice to fit into some of those items in your closet that make you feel pretty.
By about the time I busted the zippers on my favorite pencil skirts week ten of pregnancy, I  promised myself I would still make an effort to get ready every day (hair, makeup, and something besides the stretchy pants and oversized tee that sang my name).
For me, someone who has always expressed myself through dress, I knew this was just one way to boost my daily confidence and embrace my new body with a little more joy!
But as I’m sure you know, relearning what looks and feels good on my new body versus the body I’d had since I was eighteen has been a project!
There are three wardrobe tips I’ve found to be pretty consistent during my pregnancy and I’m here to share them with you!
1. When nothing seems to fit, overcompensate with accessories. We all have those days when we give in to the stretchy pants and oversized tee I mentioned above, and that’s OK. Try taking it a step up and wear at least one piece of statement jewelry or a fun colored accessorie!
{About 6 Weeks Pregnant}
2. Layer something structured over something snug. As soon as you find out you’re pregnant, you’ll want other people to notice. Accentuate your cute bump with a fitted tank and a structured blazer to hide your new curves (i.e. love handles) and flatter your old curves that disappear by the week (i.e. your waist).
{29 & 23 Weeks}
3. Show off your legs. I’m sure they’re looking tinier than ever beneath that baby belly you’ve got, so show them off in some shorts or a stretchy skirt. And if you’re stable enough, some heels!
{30 & 27 Weeks}
As I said earlier, these are all things that I’ve found helpful while getting dressed during my pregnancy.
They may not work for you, but I encourage you to try something on besides those stretchy pants!
I promise you’ll feel more confident in your new body, even if you happen to be one of those women that love being pregnant!
And disclaimer: I totally throw on my “uniform” (i.e. sweats) the second I walk through the door…

Featured Friday Poster: Merrick from Merrick’s Art!

By on July 20, 2012

I recently was cruising around Pinterest (Shocker!) and found a pin about Merrick’s blog. I instantly became obsessed with how creative and stylish she was. I immediately emailed her and asked her to do a featured post. I know many new Mom’s could use some of her awesome tips and ideas. I am thrilled to welcome Merrick to Featured Friday. Here is an amazing guest post from her!

Hi there, I’m Merrick from Merrick’s Art, where I blog about sewing, style, and family life. I’m excited to be over here on Perfectly Imperfect Mom today talking a little bit about Mommy Style.

Before I became a mom, I was a student, and then spent a few years working as a project manager for a local company. Both of these required getting dressed every day, and looking both put together and appropriate. But once my little Peanut was born, I was suddenly thrown in to the world of staying at home with nowhere to be, no one to see, and no one caring what I looked like. And yet, I could count on one hand the number of times I haven’t gotten dressed and put on makeup for the day in the last two years since his birth. Why? Well, let me tell you.

Here are six reasons I get dressed and ready (which, for me, includes hair and makeup) EVERY morning:

  1. It gets my day started. I am not completely ready for the day by 7:00am, like my old work days, but even being ready by nine or ten gives me the whole day to get things done.
  2. It makes me feel more productive. There is nothing that makes me feel more lazy and less productive than walking around in my pajamas and bed-head until 5:00pm. Nothing would ever get done if I didn’t get ready every day.
  3. It makes me feel confident. When I wake up in the morning, I certainly do not look my best (surprise, surprise). Putting on makeup, doing my hair (even if it’s just a top knot or a pony tail), and throwing on even just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt makes me feel infinitely better about myself.
  4. It makes me a better mom. Carrying on from #3, feeling confident makes me a better mom. I am more patient, more fun, and more energetic when I’m happy and have taken some time to take care of myself
  5. It allows me to walk out the door any time. It is hard enough to get out the door with a child, but adding getting dressed and presentable to that is just crazy. You’ll never get your errands done. Taking fifteen minutes in the morning to get yourself ready makes it easy to walk out the door (without being embarrassed) any time of the day.
  6. It is a favor to my husband. You guys. I cannot talk about this enough. Coming home after a long and tiring day of work to a messy house, a smelly and sweats-clad wife, and crazy kids is probably the LAST thing a husband wants to do, regardless of how much he loves you. Despite how crazy and busy my days are, I always make an effort to straighten up the house and put on a little lipgloss or perfume around 5:30pm before he walks in the door. He just deserves that.

So now that you know why I do it, let’s talk for a second about how I do it. Because some people think that getting ready every day (especially as a mom) takes way too long, doesn’t allow for comfort, and just isn’t worth it.

Here are five of my go-to Mommy Style outfits that make me feel put together, are super comfortable, and are just as easy to throw on as a baggy t-shirt and sweatpants.

1. stretchy pencil skirts

skirt: made by me, t-shirt cardigan and sandals: target // skirt & sandals: target, graphic tee: made by me

I just recently discovered my undying love for stretchy pencil skirts. I’d always worn pencil skirts to church or work, but with a graphic t-shirt and a pair of sandals, they can be very casual, so cute, and really comfortable.

2. jeans & t-shirts

red jeans: f21, scarf: bought in London, tee: hand-me-down (heart by me), flats: payless // jeans: gap, belt: husbands, leopard flats: steve madden via platos closet, button up: target // jeans: abercrombie, tee: hand-me-down, belt: local boutique, necklace: gift, sandals: target // jeans: h&m (maternity), tee: target, necklace: c/o wild about jewelry, wedges: old navy

Jeans and t-shirts are probably the easiest thing for a mom to wear, right? But it doesn’t have to be so basic. Add a scarf, tuck (or half tuck) your shirt, add a skinny belt, or a big statement necklace, and suddenly your jeans and t-shirt ensemble is put together and pretty, but still comfortable and simple.

3. lightweight dresses

pink dress: target (maternity), cardigan: target, flats: h&m, belt: local boutique // maxi dress & leopard belt: target, cardigan: local boutique, necklace: c/o lisa leonard designs

As with pencil skirts, dresses were something I only wore to church or work in the past. But lightweight, stretchy dresses (especially maxi dresses) are the most comfortable thing you could possibly put on. It’s like wearing a blanket all day long, but you look fabulous.

4. tunics & leggings

tunic: made by my mom, cardigan & leggings: target, leopard flats: steve madden via plato’s closet // tunic: made by me, leggings, sandals & belt: target // tunic: made by me, leggings, sandals & belt: target

Tunics have become a summer staple for me. They are so simple and effortless, and beyond comfortable. Add a fun belt or a cardigan, and you step it up just a little bit more.

5. pattern mixing

jeans: gap, striped tee: lucky brand via sams club, cardigan, belt & sandals: target // dress: gap maternity t-shirts (turned into a dress), cardigan: f21, boots: target // jeans: f21, top: old navy, belt: target

Pattern mixing is one of those things that is a bit scary at first, but can transform even the simplest of mom outfits if you do it right. Two easy rules to start out: use patterns that are in the same color family, and keep one pattern smaller than the other. Give it a try — you’ll suddenly look like you put way more effort into your outfit than you actually did!

So there you go. Six reasons to take care of yourself as a mom, and five easy ways to do it. Thanks again for having me!
