How to Survive a Baby with Colic

By on March 7, 2016

First I want to thank  Gerber Good Start Soothe Infant Formula and Gerber Soothe probiotic Colic Drops, for sponsoring this post! I had two babies who suffered from colic and it was very difficult. It made me feel like a failure as a mother because I couldn’t sooth my baby. Looking back I know there were certain pieces of advice I wish I could give myself to help me through that time.
1. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. This is key. When your baby is constantly crying it can really wear on you. It’s ok to ask for someone to come and help you with the baby. People love holding babies so ask a friend or family member to come by and get a little break, even if it’s just a well needed nap.

Everly being worn in the K’tan

2. Wear your baby. Wearing my colicky babies was a life saver. They needed to be held constantly which meant I always had my hands full. Once I started using my wrap it made my life so much easier.
3. Feedings can be tough. With Ace and Everly feedings were so tough with them. Everly would scream through bottles. She just was so uncomfortable all the time. With Ace his colic didn’t last as long so I was still nursing him. With him he found comfort with nursing so he was on me all the time. It was night and day with those two. I wish I had known about Gerber Sooth products. They have Gerber® Soothe Colic Drops for breastfed babies and Gerber® Good Start® Soothe Infant Formula for formula fed babies. Something I could have used for each of my kids.

4. Get expert advice. Whether you feel that is your doctor, mother, or best friend, don’t be afraid to ask them for suggestions. I know it helped me by asking my seasoned Mom friends on what I could do to help my little ones through this colic phase. The best advice I remember getting was wear them and vacuum. The sound and movement helped sooth them. Such good advice!

5. Get out of the house! Just going for a walk and getting fresh air can do wonders for your and your baby. The motion of the stroller (or if you wear your baby, the motion of you walking) will hopefully help your little one stay calm so you can get a good walk in.

Did you have a baby with colic? What advice would you give a new Mom dealing with a fussy, colicky baby?

Honest Company Trial Bundles!

By on June 24, 2015

Ok so I may have been living under a rock but I just recently got my first Honest Bundles in the mail and I can not say enough good things about The Honest Company’s products.
First of all can we talk about the cute print diapers? I have only really seen prints like these on cloth diapers so it was a real treat to see them on disposables as well. I mean lets be honest, my kids usually run around in diapers a lot of the day.
The first trial pack we tried out was the Diaper and Wipes Bundle. This comes with 7 diapers and a travel size wipe pack (10 wipes). Since Ashlyn has super sensitive skin and gets rashes very easily it’s always nice to find diapers and wipes that are gentle on her skin.

The next one we tried is the Essentials Bundle. This is amazing because they are all travel size. I always hate bringing baby stuff with me when we travel because I never have small containers for them. This was perfect and free! This trial bundle came with a shampoo & body wash, face & body lotion, multi-surface cleaner, healing balm and hand soap.
There are also Health and Wellness Bundle which I didn’t get a chance to try. They have two options, Prenatal Once Daily & DHA Complete and Baby & Toddler Multi Powder and Kid’s Chewable Multi-Vitamin.

So you’re probably wondering what the catch is? The only catch I found was that you have to pay shipping which is only $5.95. That is a great price for all those products!
I also had the opportunity to try out their Fruit & Veggie wash. My kids love fruit and I never feel like water gets everything off so this is a great way to get fruit clean of any icky-ness.
I always found removing wax from apples was the hardest so the fact that this does it for you is a huge plus! If you have kids that love fruits and veggies this is a must for your household. The only issue I had with this product is the smell. It has a weird smell to it but once you wash the fruit it’s gone. No clue why it has a smell but it’s all natural so that’s really all that matters to me.
Make sure to use the coupon AMBASSADOR10  to get $10 off your purchase of $25 or more!

I want to thank The Honest Company for giving me the opportunity to be an Ambassador and try out their amazing products.

Florida Finds Friday: Core Contour Lagree Fitness

By on April 17, 2015

On Friday I had the opportunity to check out the hot new fitness trend Core Contour Lagree Fitness in Fort Lauderdale.

With their motto “Physically Fit, Mentally Strong” you can guarantee an incredible mind, body experience during these 50 minute work outs. The other amazing part about these work outs other than the mind, body connection is the amount of calories you can burn in one work out session. When I spoke with Jenn Capps, owner of Core Contour, she explained that you can burn 600-800 calories.
No more exhausting and boring trips to the gym, Core Contour offers a group class with a personal feel. Each person gets their own Megaformer Machine while in a group setting. The Megaformer is incredible because it targets “slow twitch muscle fibers” that can be difficult to target in your normal work out routine.
The owner of Core Contour in Ft. Lauderdale, Jenn Capps, is there to help you along your work out journey with not only making it an intense work out but fun as well with great music playing!
Overall Core Contour is a great workout option for busy Moms. Being able to burn the maximum amount of calories in a 50 minute work out is my kind of work out! Now hurry on over to the Core Contour in Ft. Lauderdale and experience your first class for only $15

So much!

By on December 7, 2013

Happy Friday!

Tonight we are heading to my family’s Funeral Home to do a candle lighting for those who were lost in the past year, my parents being some of the people being remembered. My brother, sister and I are all going to be together to celebrate their lives. It’s weird going to this event for them after so many years of it being done for others.

Saturday we are going to see my oldest bestie, Katie! I miss her so much. She has been like my big sister since I was 12 when we met. She is 4 years older than me and has always been very protective of me and just a great friend. Since she moved away too many years ago we don’t get to see each other enough. I can’t wait for her to meet Ashlyn.

Sunday we are going to head over to see Branden’s sister Brooke and her daughters! Her daughter Josie is only 4 days younger than Ashlyn. How perfect is that for cousins? I can’t wait for these two little girls, well three including Everly to grow up being best friends.

On pregnancy new, I am 24 weeks along and feeling pretty good. I am tired but other than that I have been feeling fine. Today, though, I had the weirdest thing happen. I was having my dress for my sister’s wedding fitted and as I was standing there I got really hot, light headed and nauseous. I had to sit down and the woman doing my fitting brought me some water. I thought I was fine and right after she started pinning the dress I had to sit down again because things almost went completely black. She brought me a coke to see if that would help since the water didn’t and it did the trick. After sitting down for about 10 minutes I was able to stand there for her to finish.

Hopefully I don’t have another episode like that.

Ace and Ashlyn are awesome. Ashlyn is a little chunk! She also has started smiling and we try to laugh. I love when they start to really show their interest in us. It’s like they are finally getting it.

Ace has a winter pageant at school on Tuesday. I am dying to see him singing. He has been singing jingle bells and tells us he gets to hold a bell, ha! I am going to die. I can not wait. These are the things I live for. I love seeing him doing cute stuff. I think it’s so cool I get to experience these things 2 more times with the girls.

Not to much else is going on. I think these next two weeks are going to be a bit crazy with my sisters wedding coming up and the holidays so wish us luck that we get through it with as little craziness as possible!

Let Football Season Begin at Buffalo Wild Wings!

By on August 1, 2013

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Buffalo Wild Wings for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ok so I am not the biggest football fan. When I was away at USF in college I loved football games and football season but now I am really only in it for the food. I mean lets be honest, there is no better food than buffalo wings, fries and beer while “watching” a football game.

 photo BWW_GenBrandV2_Black_Retargeting_300x250_zps1e81f6aa.jpg

My husband on the other hand is a huge football fan. I mean every single game is watched it seems like. He has his teams he loves, Go Blue!, but he just loves the sport. So my requirement for the nights I am so not into the whole football scene is going somewhere fun to watch the game. Someplace that I can enjoy being with my boys and enjoy the food.

I am a huge fan of Buffalo Wild Wings. They have so many awesome deals and amazing wings. You can’t beat their Bottomless Boneless Lunch and Wing Tuesday‘s. Don’t forget to check out the new Redhook Game Changer Beer as well!

This is a place my husband, son and I can all agree on and never have to argue over watching the game because he can enjoy the game at a restaurant we both like.
